Are you sure you posted the correct thread ?
Almost everyone on that thread is saying Kovalev would lose to ATG light heavyweights. Lots of names being mentioned. Also Andre Ward and Bertebiev are mentioned.

    Of course he has power.
    But he's no Joe Louis!

Then you must've missed the part where people were comparing him to Louis and saying he would beat half of the all time top ten.

Glad I'm not the only one who wondered this...

I said I wouldn't have been surprised if he won half of those fights--not that I'd expect or favor him to win them. What can I say? The man has ATG punching power, a good chin, and decent skills when he's on top of his game. Guys like that are at least live dogs against even many truly excellent fighters, imo. Anyway, shame on you for continuing to exaggerate what was said in the earlier thread but I'm glad you at least edited your original post late last night to tone down some of the language where you tried to make Perry out to be some kind of prophetic lone voice in the wilderness.

I'm pretty shocked that the poll is 9-9.

Oh, that's the thread where I pick Jimmy Slattery to beat him.

Shame on me? But this is what you do on a regular.
Take something unpopular someone says that you disagree with, and start a poll around it, and rub it in their faces for months.

I edited out "I'm telling yah".
    I didn't tone anything down.
He made you look silly in that thread.

He's never made anyone but himself look silly on this forum. Well, he's indirectly made you look silly too from time to time, when you've engaged in your misguided attempts to defend him.

So you're standing by your bogus mischaracterization of my post? That I said that Kovalev would beat half of those guys? This is pretty lame stuff as far as "gotcha" polls go. His performance against Ward certainly makes me even more cautious to predict how he would do at the top of his game (as you can see from how I answered your question in this poll), but me saying that I wouldn't be surprised if he picked off half of the names on that list two years ago is still far less ridiculous than your insistence that Primo Carnera was a better all around fighter than Riddick Bowe.

There you have it. Spoken by one of the better technical posters here.

I wouldn't label myself as that but I am a southpaw. Usyk makes it look easy. My biggest problem with him, and especially in regards to his effectiveness higher up the ladder, is that he seems to punch at his target rather than through it.

On the complete other end of the spectrum you have that guy Kudryshov who hits like a ton of bricks but doesn't possess any of the positioning finesse of Usyk.

I think you are one of the better technical break down and interpret film guys here.

On Southpaw's, they can be harder to hit with the jab and hook. The best way to beat them is with a good straight right hand. If you have a counter right, you've really got something. If you're bothered by feet touching your opponents or have bad footwork, you could be in for a long night.

The style used to be rare, now it is not.

On Usyk, he beat the better super heavies sparring in the amateurs and has a rock of a chin, but what makes him special is his footwork/speed, stamina, and lack of fear in the ring.

At 6'3" with a 78" reach, likely weighting about 210-212 on fight night, he has measurable close to a prime Ali and Holmes. I think he would beat Wilder and Fury. He would likely out point Povetkin now. A fight with Joshua down the road would be fascinating.

Mendoza was another guy who stated Kovalev would beat Marciano. Then after Ward knocked him out quickly changed his tune.

Tell everyone again that punches on the beltline are low genius.

    Usyk would not beat Fury.

Unless you're referring to the current Fury?

Yeah, Fury is one guy I'd pick over Usyk, at least the prime version, which might no longer be the case.
