I dont think he does well as far as getting top 10 at HW but it is FAR fetched to assume he cannot out box Shmelling. And no hes no Holyfield who WOULD out box Shmelling at any weight too..
You are second biggest dope on this entire site next to Dino ..thats all i got right now for you . lol
Huck and Cunningham gave some of the top heavyweight contenders all that they could handle. I think that if you took away the Klitschko's, the top cruisers would have done just fine in the heavyweight division.
It wasn't a great fight in support of this prediction, put it that way. He got hit a lot and that wouldn't go so well wih Max. Then again it's not as if he was up against a powder puff and what a good fight it was.
If in doubt, pick the fighter with the known resume. Usky still has time to implode and make you look silly, while Schmeling has missed the boat on that.
Usyk is cleaning out a very good division and taking fights vs men in their primes. He’s also beating them in their turf. Yes he could beat Schmeling.
Yes, it's always risky picking a fighter who is active over one who is retired, for reasons you state. But when I pick in a fantasy fight I try not to think about all that. I just pick who I would pick if they were fighting this weekend. That is an equally good way to make yourself look foolish but it's all in good fun. And Usyk already has a fine resume. I think he'll get Gassiev in the final and Gassiev is excellent. That's a legitimate 1 v 2 and it'll add a name to the all time top 10 list at cruiserweight, undeniably. A top 10 all time at cruiser is a reasonable opponent for an all time top 20ish guy at heavyweight, especially given that Usyk is the bigger man.
Top 5 ??? Other than Maybe Holy... And Rocky, if you want to consider that he never weighed in above 200, who else ?
I haven't edited it recently, but I don't have Schmeling and Usyk too far apart on my ATG Cruiser list: 13. Schmeling 14. Corbett 15. Jackson 16. Sullivan 17. Jeanette 18. Conn 19. Moore 20. Usyk May be time for a rethink, as Usyk continues to impress.
