Actually promote.

The job description of Promoter seems to be lost on some people. On another forum a certain promoters winning of purse bids was only publicised when a member of his managerial team decided to gloat to the other boxers best mate.

Really professional.

 

Get the boxers profile out there. People would take more interest in the fights if they knew more about the fighters - get plenty of interviews, film training footage, press conferences, get the fighters to interact with fans on FB/Twitter etc. And I don't just mean for the main event guys, but those on the undercard as well. 99.9% of people don't have a clue who is on the undercard most of the time for small hall shows. If people know more about a show they are more likely to go to the show.

Also, sell copies of the cards on the internet/at future shows. Plenty of people would love to collect copies of the fights, especially if they're not screened on television.

every single show he should have 2 fights with guys at the same weight with the winners fighting each other on the next show. that way you will entice fans to go to the next show to see the conslusion

Promoters to start acting like adults and get fights made.

Even average fights aren't happening because Promoter A doesn't want his fighter to appear on a show staged by Promoter B.

Hatton dropped Danny Butler for taking Barker at short notice, despite it most probably being a career high payday and a title shot that wasn't exactly imminent at the time.

Madness.

 

I suggest that the fans have a poll on who they wanna see fight the most and taht's how shows should be put out there.. This way the audience will always be decent and people usually like exciting fighters so that way no one can really lose...

Have a Promoter whose sole job is to PROMOTE the fight to the public. I.E. Advertise the fight. They have WAY too much power. The only guys who should have that power are the following:

2 Boxers
2 Managers

These guys sit round a table and hash out a deal.

Then the managers sort out the venue/TV etc.

Simple I know.. but something needs to be done about these promoters its like having a 3rd man in the fight.

I also like that Hatton have screens at their shows where they show previous fights and interviews with fighters. It's a simple idea but it keeps fans interested imbetween fights and lets them know what to expect in the next contest simply puy because not everyone (in fact most people) at an Arena is a Boxing anorac like us on ESB it gives them a chance to see what fighter looks like in action see's a side of their personality etc. before the actual fight.

And another thing I would like to see is fighters being more active. There are to many fighters that sit on the sidelines for months waiting for their next title fight on Sky I would quite like to see the bigger domestic names keeping busy against decent opposition (in 6/8 rounders) along with a mix of novices and well matched domestic opperators on an undercard it wouldn't be to unrealistic and it keeps their name relevant. For example Lee McCalister out one this year could easily have gotten an 8 rounder on an undercard for cheap to keep himself busy the same could be said for John Murray during his down time.

 

Yep Royal, if I was a fighter I'd be begging to keep busy, even for a few hundred quid on the undercard against a journeyman. Obviously it ain't as easy as that, but if you look through history, the best fighters kept busy, champs taking non-title 8-10-12 rounders etc etc.

 

It's been said already but, more active boxers, simple, until you're a BIG name/champ and stakes are high/lots of money involved they should be fighting 5-8 times a year assuming they are injury free, my pet hate with boxing is i hate seeing guys fight every 3-4 months its ****. Should be every 9-12 weeks, the more you fight the more you get noticed. Boxers aren't to blame though to be fair.

Less PPV's as well, it ruins boxing, unless its a unification bout between 2 legit champs at the least. Rather than a defence with 1 guy being champ against a bum/average fighter, that is criminal, dosen't matter how big a "name" you are, no multiple belts at stake no pay.

And what robpalmer said in post no.5, thats a cracking idea.

I reckon some guys on ESB should run a few cards a year lol
