As guys continue to get caught for PED's it's obvious guys can still pass tests if they know there are on gas and take it anyhow. It seems a 1 yr suspension is worth the roll of the dice. Random testing is def a great idea and can catch guys because most guys that know when a test is can easily pass a test. Anyway my thoughts were if a guy get's caught and is a "cheater" as part of the punishment should have to give an olympic style drug test for all further fights. It's basically like being on probation for a criminall because the current system doesn't seem to be stopping people from using.
If the tests were actually random may be it would be a good idea. Olympic style or WADA drug testing. A complete ban on HRT with NO exceptions. And 5 year bans to life NO exceptions. In addition loosing your purse for the fight and a minimum $50,000 fine. These simple deterrents would eradicate even the most hardcore cheats.
Yes they would, the current system is obviously not working and maybe fighters would look at the "banned substance" list before getting a positve test and then playing stupid. I see Calavante has filed his appeal like most other people who get caught do. I'm not sure what case they intend to use but almost everytime they end up losing.
No fighter gives a crap about what's on a banned list. If the tests were thorough enough and random its likely they'd double the fighters caught. The reality is the tests are woefully easy to pass. In addition they're NOT RANDOM. Therefore the current system is painfully flawed. Couple that with a **** weak slap on the wrist and its very obvious why these guys juice and don't care about getting caught.
It is very flawed and that's why I brought up the subject. The fine couldn't be any lower and the current suspension only makes them miss a fight or 2. And for that matter why did Overeem only get 9 months instead of a year? did he get a reduction on his fine also?
**** knows. I don't know the specifics of his case but i do know that for some odd reason the Judge was more lenient with him. :roll: The bigger question is why was Overeem allowed to submit a test in another country and wilfully given a bly by NSAC the first time he fought Brock. Iv said before and il say it again if a rigid drug testing policy was implemented the UFC would be out of business within months. It's not in their best interests to pursue this and Zuffa know it.
It's a good idea Ajax, I think you get the benefit of the doubt but fail once and the random testing comes it. It's too expensive (apparently) to test every athlete so this may be a decent compromise. The fine and bans are a public relation exercise tbh, it's a joke. All sports will have the PED ****** on their backs, it's the elephant in the room. But if the Athletic Commission wanted the sport 100 % clean it would be. They'd invest the time and the money to do what ever is necessary. Might have a roster of 10-20 fighters left on a Companies books though
This. And the excuse that its too expensive is not only pitiful its insulting. Id prefer if they'd just take morality out of it and simply admit they don't want to do it.

I would think so because he's basically doing this to get in the good books of the commision and the UFC. of course how the test was conducted and who did it is really what matters. but I think this should be the norm. Every convicted fighter should have a random test done but at their cost of course which would come from the initial fine. 1 prob with random testing is that guys train everywhere from brasil to japan making a random test very difficult and expensive. I'm not sure how to get by that prob.
True enough, but they have to realize the status quo isn't working and that fighters are still willing to gamble and try to beat tests. I wonder what the percentage is of guys that are on ped's that pass tests on a regular basis.
