There is no such thing as safer 'steroids' when guys are self medicating. And thats not even taking into account the various mixing of drugs which can never be deemed 100% safe.

I agree 100% with you....the only thing I'm saying is that if the stuff were legal more research could prolly be done on the subject... !

More or less like with cannabis... !

Unlikely. Legalising it is not plausible. First off the wider reaching implications would be tremendous as well as not being socially acceptable or palatable to many of the regulatory bodies. That said i do think recreational drugs should be given a pass. If weed heads like Diaz want to smoke a blunt till it comes out of their ******* let em. PEDs though is a different ball game. That positively gives a fighter an unfair advantage. And not only that would lead to a slew of drug addicts of the Mark Kerr variety. Thats not something any sport is willing to risk much less a main stream sport.

I'm gonna take your word for it Scurla...you hit the gym and at least you are in that kind of environment a lot more then I do.

I'm only saying that from a drug user perspective. IMO by being illegal it make those kinda of thing alot riskier. From the documentary Bigger, Faster, Stronger I've seen most of those guy order steroids from the internet. Maybe they really get what they ordered maybe they don't, by being legal at least there would be a better control of it, against that's just my opinion.

And again by being illegal I guess there isn't much research being done on the kind of drug mix people can do and if substance A can create some kind of problem with substance B etc...

And from my point of view (wich I know won't be really popular here) steroid are the next big step to have better performance...it's either that or specific genetic engineering (wich will take decade to get some kind of improvement) So I understand why athlete are using them, and I understand it can be really really dangerous with all the crap available on the market...but each and every time I think about it I always end up thinking that legalizing can only do good thing, but I know I could be wrong...it still is my opinion...

Hear what you're saying buddy but legalizing it (under the assumption that was ever possible) would in my opinion make matters worse. Look at the WWE if you want a example of routine drug abuse. The WWE had to introduce their wellness policy to combat the spate of high profile deaths amongst former employees. In the main stream you just cant seen to be doing nothing when athletes are dying. Bear in mind of course the WWE had practically zero regulation around drug use.
Body-building is the same. These guys are walking labs. Deaths from drug abuse are more common than ever before. Some of the deaths being directly linked to drug abuse. Thats not something that will ever gain mainstream acceptance publically. Whilst many know it goes on people prefer not to talk about it and obviously divorce themselves from the morality of it all citing the pressures of their sport.
Bottom line is when ever anyone self medicates there's a huge amount of risk. Making it legal doesn't change that simple fact. Any form of drug use MUST be regulated for the safety and long term health of the athletes.

    Ohh..maybe I wasn't clear enough, my mistake...

But for me legalization and regulation go hand in hand. Legalization means regulation.

I'm prolly being to optimistic and naive on the subject but for me the best system would mix drug use and medical follow up to be sure the person using don't end up having really bad problem.

Prolly in the beginning until the medical staff can get enough data on the subject it would be really awful, but in the long run with all the study that could be done on the subject maybe it could end up with really great and safe breakthrough.....but again that's all theoretical, like I said the only thing I can bring in this subject is that I'm a long time weed smoker and I though for years about a system to legalize all drug...I don't see why steroids couldn't be thrown into the mix.

But like you said, maybe steroid don't have the same issue as the recreational drug do !

I'm afraid they don't buddy. They're polar opposites. From the time a fighter has the ability to self medicate and take whatever he pleases it's impossible to regulate that kind of behaviour.
