That's exactly my problem, though, with all the hype that flared up about this being fake when it happened - a KO not looking "video game smooth" is no excuse for people to make the wild leap to calling it fake, as the lemmings rushed to do. Say you're Likar Ramos Concha. You get the opportunity to fight a legend, and once in there you get blitzed in sudden, violent, humiliating fashion. Salt on the wound, you get hundreds (probably thousands if the same dumbness spread to any other forums; I know it did to lots of YouTube uploads' comments sections) of fans playing arm chair sleuth and basically calling you a scoundrel, accusing you (insanely) of cushioning your fall in some half-assed dive-taking attempt.
This was smack dab between Katsidis and Pacquiao III, so you know Juan had a chip on his shoulder after taking all that flack over the Mayweather fiasco (stupidly putting on all that bulk, then outing himself as having pee-pee breath, and then getting outclassed so badly) JMM in 2011 was a rampaging fire-breathing monster.
I'm one of the smartest posters on here. You're the one who seems to have a dog in this. A boxer might pretend to be asleep to look like they're knocked out. There's some comedic effect in seeing the same boxer open their eyes on command (and brace for their fall when hit). Reminds me of Douglas trying to look knocked out against Holyfield.
I think it's real in the sense that he got knocked down and counted out, sure. Was he out cold when the punch landed? I'd honestly have to say no.
It looked like he fell too neatly. He definitely got hit, but the way he fell just didn't look natural. Seems to me he would have landed much more chaotic if he was actually out cold.
Yep. Usually when a guy is lights out they don't stumble back before falling. Gravity just takes over.
Real, real, real. It was just JMM proving he had the power to turn lights out. Pacquaio also felt that power, Pacquaio went to sleep for a lot longer, his eyes were shut the moment that punch landed.
I've seen fishier stuff in boxing. Why would I not buy this? It ain't like Marquez didn't get KOs against better opposition.
I dislike people accusing fighters of taking dives based on a shot that didn't land "hard enough". I'm thinking about feather fisted guys like Sven Ottke knocking Anthony Mundine out cold. You just never know. Same thing with Wilder vs Malik Scott. Wilder lands a left hook on the ear and people claim dive because it wasn't a dramatic looking punch. Difference between a shot not looking very hard but landing, and one that clearly misses or hits a part of the body that wouldn't cause a KO. Mario Cawley legitimately took a dive against Hasim Rahman. This content is protected
The way Ramos closed his eyes when he went down and didnt move there after looked funny asf. I remember watching live and LMFAO.
The knock down was real but he pretended to be asleep so he could get out of the fight for sure so I’m calling fake. Could have easily gotten up but didn’t for whatever reason.
