I need to see Khytrov again. He overwhelmed dude in his last fight, but my boxing eye saw him get hurt to the body badly and he actually stop fighting for a lil bit to recover. I now want to see him in a tough fight, but I know he's an up and comer, so I'll give him time. I catch lil things like that.

Yup him and Derevyanchenko, talk about disappointing that means no Golovkin showdown. At the very least i hope they can rid PBC of Quillin and Jacobs.

Who do you rate higher Khytrov or Derevyanchenko? I like both.

i was bemused listening to teddy atlas talking about Melendez being smaller than Khytrov, same with Andre Ward saying that about Rosado against Triple G. they both actually looked bigger than Khytrov & Triple G.

i remember wrestling in high school losing a lot of weight but was really still bigger and stronger than the guy in the weight class above me. and he had an actual weight advantage. if i had put on the 7 lb difference you'd thought he was 2 classes below me. the eye test is more reliable than ancient history.

He did seem to be bothered by a body shot at one point, but on the plus side he started to box effectively behind the jab after that and broke Melendez down in methodical fashion. So he's got more in his tool-kit than simply power and aggression.

You're probably right to hold off on proclaiming him the future of the middleweight division or the next GG, but he's certainly worth following.

I honestly don't know they both bring something different but are the same level imo. Derevyanchenko is more well rounded especially on defense and has solid but not scary power. H2H it would be a tough, tough fight and although they are in PBC they're both with Fight Promotions so hopefully that doesn't prevent it from happening in the future and hopefully Haymon doesn't protect Quillin from them, probably will though.

Melendez made the mistake of staying too often in range where Khytrov & his 65" reach could tee-off but being kinda smothered himself by his own longer reach.

i'd like to see Khytrov in with a Tureano Johnson and see how he handles that.

It's going to be interesting to see how careers of these proven amateurs will develop under Haymon umbrella. Will they be matched up against stars? Or be forced to fight in an inner circle for those just outside of the mix?
