I don't remember anyone selling kovalev short? Even before the cleverly fight he was widely regarded as having excellent boxing skills to go along with his power.

Plenty of people have. Before hopkins fight, it was just going to be another Murat or shumenov.

I think you are selling Chris Eubank Jr short based on one split decision loss to Billy Joe Saunders. He looked class in his next fight against Dmitry Chudinov. That was actually a very impressive performance and one of the most entertaining fights I've seen this year. Well worth checking out. It's convinced me that Eubank Jr has a good future ahead of him at middleweight. He can't beat Golovkin yet, but who can?

I'd seen a couple of Khytrov fights before and didn't think much of him. He looked sloppy but with a powerful punch, not like a guy with 500 amateur fights. He's not a technician like Lomachenko or Usyk, one of those guys with high ring IQ where you can see the gears turning in their heads as they fight. He's definitely not a slickster like Rigondeaux. But he doesn't remind me of stalking destroyers Golovkin, Kovalev, or Beterbiev either.

I just spent an hour watching his last two fights. Both were slight steps up from his previous competition. He knocked one out in the eighth round and went the distance with the other. He doesn't remind me of Kovalev. The way he moves, Khytrov reminds me a lot of Brandon Rios.

He's going to have trouble with the first technically sound fighter he meets who has a sound jab and a solid chin and can box him on the outside.

Eubank Jr almost lost that fight to Chudiov. Eubank Jr. biggest enemy is himself, when he really work his ass of, you can see the potential.

Yes, but he can improve a bit. How many will be able to take his power over 12 rounds. He's an Ernie Shavers type of puncher at middle weight without the stamina, cut, and chin issues that held Shavers back.

GGG is moving up soon to 168 because nobody will fight him.

    Enter Khrtrov...

I think Bennie Briscoe was the middleweight Earnie Shavers. But Shavers' record is mostly padding since he lost to all the good guys he fought: Quarry, Ali, Lyle, Holmes. I suspect that's the case with Khytrov.

I doubt he'll be able to beat Eubank Jr. when the time comes. Although, this thread does make me wonder how Murata is progressing.

It seems like Khytrov is now training with Robert Garcia. Do you guys think that's a good move?

I'm not allowed to post links yet, but it's on ESNEWS.

Their boxing philosphy matches each other very well, however he could benefit from a guy like Hunter, that could teach him defense.

I just checked and didn't see anything what is the vid title?

That would be the best news i have heard in a while Khytrov's Brooklyn team with Rozier and Stark are garbage, at least for him. Even better he would be around his teammates Gvozdyk who is trained by Garcia and Lomachenko and his Dad who train out of his gym.

EDIT - saw the vid doesn't remember his name but says he has a 10-0 (9KO) record and is Ukrainian, sounds like him. God i hope it's Khytrov.

EDIT x2 - Foooook Hunter.

Everything points to it being Khytrov. 160 pounder, 10-0 (9 ko's), Ukrainian, fighting on the undercard of Danny Garcia-Paulie.
Not a big fan of Hunter at all.

Ys it's him Khytrov's youtube channel has videos for the last 3 weeks training with the strength coach Garcia mentioned in California and a short one of him in Garcia's gym. Great news. Garcia has done excellent work with Maidana and Khytrov is way more polished. Check out his defense in the Murata/Juratoni fights when he was training with Anatoliy Lomachenko he can get back to that under Robert. Plus he'll be around Vasya and Gvozdyk couldn't be more perfect for him.
