They're showing nearly a 5 year old fight..... Brad Pickett vs. Chico Camus. Happened in November 2014.
My biggest cause for concern for Khytrov was the combination of his style and amateur mileage. 500 amateur fights is a ridiculous amount of fights for anyone, let alone someone who can tend to brawl. I think it's fair to say he left his best work behind him.
Some of these former Soviet dudes..... I find it really hard to believe they actually had 250-500 official amateur fights, unless most smokers over there go down as official.
That's a good question. Honestly, I'd hope that's the case lol. I know the system's aim isn't to create pro boxers so they probably don't care if they wear them out as amateurs, but it still kinda sucks for those who are bigger fans of the pro game. Korobov had over 300 amateur fights, and that's another guy whose pro career was probably worse off for it.
Scratch that, I deleted the RBR. They were running Rodriguez vs. Horgasz, which is a women's match that took place in March. And that was after some Muay Thai, they're listing it on Boxrec, that the whole card is over with. Khytrov won by TKO6.
@CST80 I guess I should have hidden that to a spoiler. I just thought it's too late already in the US anyway...
Don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault, I ruined it for myself. I was checking Boxrec to see who the two women fighting were, and found out they weren't on it, it was a repeat, and the card was over.
Regarding the fight itself. I didn't watch it as well, but read that Pham was down three times in the 6th from body shots. And each of those was rather a knockout, but the ref made his best to help Pham.
A few years back, Khytrov (and Golub) were the next big thing I thought that both would become World Title Contenders, but their careers went downhill really fast.
Golub has gone downhill fast? He's lost one very highly disputed decusion! There's still life in Khytrov aswell.
Is it a forgone conclusion that Khytrov is done? I don't think it is. He's still younger enough to reinvent himself at 168 and he has good backing as well. We'll see what happens. There are definitely some good fights for him on the horizon though. Unrelated side note. Are you excited for Verhoeven/Hari II?
Well, the video is not officially available (for free), so I'm not sure it's ok to embed it here, but you can google for it: https://www.google.com/search?q=Евгений+Хитров+-+Габриэль+Фэм++Ievgen+Khytrov+vs+Gabriel+Pham+HD
Round 1 Khytrov 10-9 Ievgen using better head movement and trying to parry shots, didn't do that bad at that, finally by the end of the round he just threw all that out of the window and started mauling him.
