if 10 years ago, people would have told me about what folks say about RJJ..........

Valle didn't come close to knocking Jones out! Have you even seen the fight??? Valle tried to press for the KO, but he couldn't, as Jones wasn't that hurt, he was buzzed, but not hurt where one can finish him. That was pretty much a flash KD. He went on to completely dominate him, like he was always doing. I can tell you he took punches from Telsco, Griffin, Sosa, B-Hops, Ruiz, Clinton Woods etc. If Anything, the Hard Shot Valle landed showed that his chin was not as bad as it is now as he would've been out cold now. How can a glass jaw jr middleweight fighter take the best punch of a natural heavy weight with decent power that outweighs him by 20 pounds?

Jones is top 40 ATG. I have not made a list, but of all the fighters that I do know of, I would rank Jones around the 40 mark. If I were a nuthugger he would be at 20+

If you don't have Roy Jones as an ATG are you not only not of fan of his, but you know jack **** about boxing..........

I'm a fan of Arturo Gatti, and I don't think he's an all time great, but what you are arguing is indefensible. And you are lying when you are saying you are a fan...........

no, i'm not lying. If someone disagrees with you about something - it doesn't mean they are lying.

Anyway, I'll leave you to look at history through your rose tinted glasses, I'll take my facts and **** off.

So the FACT that he was the first middle weight in 100 years to win the heavyweight title is moot then??

First middleweight to Win a legitimate heavyweight belt. Still impressive, but not as impressive had he beat lewis, who was the main man.

Oh come on, I am not a Jones fan and jumped for Joy when Tarver KO'ed his ass but it's not like his chin was the only reason he is no longer the fighter he was.

I could see when he stepped into the ring in the first Tarver fight that he didn't even look the same. He suddenly looked old and his body looked different, losing all that muscle clearly effected his reflexes and his legs.

He may very well have had a bad chin all his career but in his prime his reflexes and mobilty were able to ensure it was never tested to the degree it was.

In his prime he was amazing though not as good as many Jones fan say he was because his competition was not great and anyone can look great against inferior opposition. But it cannot be denied that he was an ATG he beat Hopkins and Toney and was a top p4p boxer for almost a decade.

Nice analogy but I don't think Picasso was being punched in the head when he was painting Guernica.

Roy didn't win the heavyweight title. He beat a mediocre belt holder.
If he would have gone after Lennox Lewis and won, you could include his name with Louis, Ali or Johnson. Beating John Ruiz doesn't mean anything more than beating a contender, and a lowly regarded one at that.
Yeah, it was still an accomplishment, handling a bigger guy, but not really the historic blockbuster Roy would like to believe it is.

Roy Jones in his prime is probably the greatest athlete there's ever been in the ring. The guy was amazing. An EASY pick for Fighter of the 90s. He must rank top50 ATG.

Lewis RJJ wouldn't be a fair match up, kinda like how Pac v Abraham wouldn't be a fair match up. The right match ups have to be made, the win over Ruiz was a great win, theres no doubting that.
