If 80's Mike Tyson was fighting right now, would he be more popular than Pac & Floyd?

:D Floyd started it with his egotistical quote

Could you imagine Ali in the era as well ?

He could walk up to Floyd talking and shut his mouth right up.

Just imagine him in today's 24/7 HBO era. The ratings would bury Mayweather's ratings as well as ppv buys. He'd be a juggernaut. In the late 80s, he was arguably the most famous athlete in the world, even bigger than Jordan. Someone said even their granny knew who Tyson was, and thats true. That's how big he was at the time to people who didn't know anything about boxing but still knew who he was.

Imagine how big a Tyson/Klitschko(either bro) fight would be in Vegas or MSG today. The hype/anticipation/money/ppv buys would be bigger than a Pac/Mayweather fight easily.

People of this era like to bring up streaming but in Tyson's era, I can't remember a single person who paid. Everyone I knew had a "black-box." Not that I would partake in something illegal. That would be wrong. Just wrong.

Now going to fights...I don't know. Maybe people were more willing to go back then. I just don't know.
Way back when, going to fights was huge. Big time Fights, local...

One big reason could be that Tyson's PPVs never had HBO 24/7 type of shows to hype his fights like they do now for big time PPV fights. PPV landscape is way different now. Even prime DLH would do bigger numbers than he did if he had shows like 24/7 for his earlier fights(Trinidad, Vargas, Mosely, etc)

Prime Tyson would be the most famous man on earth today just like he was in his prime. He would even be bigger than Klitschko's in germany/russia/ukraine. If the Klitchko's fought like prime Tyson they'd enjoy the same fanfare.

That's true. Can't argue with that. Under today's landscape, the PPV numbers that either of them would do would be bigger than Pac or Mayweather.

The only number that counts is the green kind. These guys are prize fighters and they do not really give a **** if 24 million people are watching for a buck or one person pays 24 mill to watch the fight.

Of that 24 million how much revenue was generated. The reason why I ask is in todays market people vote with their wallets (a totally different paradigm).

I can't see Floyd or Pac traveling to Tokyo and have 30,000+ seeing his fight against a nondescript opponent
