Chuck Norris doesn't read books, he just stares at them until they tell him what he wants to know.

The tears of Chuck Norris can cure cancer... which is a shame because Chuck Norris never cries.

Anyway, as a former Ti Shou (chinese wrestling) champ, I can safely say that I would get thoroughly battered by a boxer, in a boxing ring, under boxing rules. Just like I'd probably submit him if we competed under my rules.

As for the other "what-if" kind of questions... I agree with the other posters who say it's down to the individual. As my master used to say, there are no good or bad martial arts, just good and bad practitioners.

Somebody else mentioned about fighting in an enclosed space... I'd love to have a convenient wall to shove someone into and I wouldn't consider it a disadvantage.

If it would be a free fight there is a good chance for a kickboxer that he wins against a boxer and a very good chance that a guy like Jet Li makes much bigger boxers like Abraham or Pavlik look silly. If we talk about a boxing match - their chance is 0. They don't have any. Even in a street fight the Kung Fu or Kickboxing guy has to be very cautious, because the punching power of a hard punching boxer is unmatched.

Not all boxers are equal, this applies to martial artist as well and we don't have Grand Masters of all systems, only in certain styles and forums.

If they two people have similar strengths, speed, punch resistance and stamina it would be a draw, who wins is determined more by who has more ability which has nothing to do with the fighting system, Look at what happens with Ray Mercer and Bojanski, one kick and Ray wanted out, Ray was old and out of shape, you could flip that situation by choosing an old MA and a young boxer.

Most martial arts grand masters & shaolin monks are hapless china chinned frauds.

However a ninja would be pretty much unbeatable against a boxer.

In boxing match - the boxer will demolish his opponent.
There are way too many factors in fight to predict the outcome especially when we talk about kick-boxing matches. I remember that Bob Sapp knocked the **** out Ernesto Hoost(sp?) - one of the best kick boxers.

Wasnt there a rebelion in China led by martial artists...they got manhandled by the european soldiers.

Depends on the boxer and the martial artist. If taken from similiar high class lvl then high majority of the boxers would win since it is purely their game.

There may be a few martial artist who can compete competitively but most martial arts consist of a different style of fighting rather than pure head and body punching. Punching is just one of their many arsenals, and even their ways of striking can differ greatly. Their focus in their training isn't to maximize their effectiveness in rules such as boxing, so it will cause them a great disadvantage.

Boxer are professional in what they do and have practice day in and day out to do just that. It is like second nature to them, and it is what their full training is focused on.

In a street fight it is a different matter and that will come down to each different individual and their overall abilities.

Point 1 is something i've really considered as an important factor. For instance, most martial arts hardend their fists and arms through various exercises. And kung fu has various strikes based on animals which would be useless with gloves on. It would be a completely new experience for these martial artists to fight with gloves on.

Yeah, pretty much. But without the big nappy.

2 guys in a small ring. No strikes allowed. Drop the opponent or force him out of the area. There are weight categories, which is good because my fighting weight was 65Kg and a sumo wrestler would squash me with a fart.
