and has to travel out of the country hes based in for his biggest fight/payday is he really a draw in the country hes based out of?

also...if another fighter has never had to leave his country and has several good fight on his resume...and doesn't have to travel more than a few hundred miles for the biggest fight of the year/ his career would it be safe to say that he has good standing in the sport?

just some questions to ask and ponder...interested to hear your answers

Depends if the guy you are fighting is a bigger draw in his home country?

    not a bad point

but lets say you are supposedly selling out arenas also in your country of base....and you are the bigger "star" in the sport....shouldn't he be coming to you.......?

He should be coming to you I agree, assuming they both hold a belt each, I suppose it depends who wants the other persons belt more.

It could be the case with Wilder v AJ? Who moves?

Golovkin is actually more popular than Ward. That probably has a lot to do with their styles of boxing.

sounds like someone feels insecure....I didn't mention either guy...this is hypothetical

but since you mentioned it....how come golovkin had to go across the pond for his biggest fight payday? and ward has to go a couple hundred miles?

And it also depends on your country. People like Golovkin an Kovalev. They've practically made there boxing homes America.

I wish everyone would travel. Statistics prove that home advantage exists in sports, boxing shouldn't be any different. That's one question mark on most American fighters if you are not biased.

I'd argue that it is more important in boxing than in any other sport. In other sports the biggest advantage comes from not having to travel. In boxing it generally means that the ref and even the judges will favor you.

It's also psychological. Teams perform better at home, even if the ref is impartial, they are not tired from traveling, etc. I always thought it shouldn't matter, but the results don't lie.

"Travel out of the country hes based in" is he really a draw??
GGG has been based in the US for 4 years. Before that he was in Germany. Before that he was in Kazakstan.
Is GGG a draw?? At this point its fair to say that he's a bigger draw than 95 percent of American based fighters. He's a bigger draw than Danny Garcia, Danny Jacobs, Terence Crawford, Andre Ward, Deontay Wilder, Keith Thurman, etc. Only Canelo, Pacman and maaaybe Cotto are bigger draws.

The Kovalev fight might not be Ward's biggest payday if he was willing to travel in the past. Just saying.

The big money is only in the US, since people are brainwashed into PPV and stuff. All the advertising and stuff is there. People in the guys homecountry will watch the fight nevertheless, because it's on free TV. So they go to the US to take the money of the rest.

based in the us for the last 4 years.....in the last 4 years golovkin has made his name...so its safe to say hes a us based fighter now and that where he has risen

so if a guy is selling out arenas like golovkin is supposedly doing...if golovkin is as popular as his fans claim he is....why is he traveling to another guys home when that other guy hasnt even made a 1 mil purse yet......supposedly golovkin is selling out arenas against c level opponents....why couldnt they sell out a US arena against a "world class operator" like brook?

why is an "irrelevant" like ward making the same type of payday that golovkin just made and he only has to go a few miles east in his own country?
