If a guy like Jimrex Jaca can hurt Marquez, Valero can surely do a lot better..

Marquez can Hopkins are two of the rare fighters who are great even at their age but the difference is that one became more aggressive while the latter got more economical in their approach...

Marquez in his prime was seen as somewhat boring due to his safety first counter punching style which was why he was overshadowed by Barrera, morales, hamed etc.. but as he got older and lost a few steps, he became more willing to engage even if it leads to a war. .. Totally opposite of hopkins although he is a few years younger, but still...

If Jaca can hurt Marquez, what would valero do?

    Just a thought...

Marquez would time Valero when he throws his patented one-two combination with an overhand right. Then, good night.

It's the reason this fight is interesting. Marquez is very hittable lately, especially early in fights. Say what you want about Valero fighting like a caveman, but the dude obviously can crack, probably with more one punch power than Pacquiao.

It's one thing when Jandaeng and the Baby Bull are drilling you like that, something else when it's Valero.

Of course I'd favor JMM, but this would be a VERY entertaining fight.

you can say the same about Valero if Mosquera can put him down imagine what a top fighter would do to him.

I hear ya bruh.. With the raw power and the aggression of Valero, anything can happen against anybody..

It's like a prime Mayorga at 147, ( althought valero is alot more refined )..
He beat alot of guys there just by imposing his will with his wild but raw punching power. Nobody expected him to beat a fine technician like Forrest, but he did..

Juan would actually be better off to play it more safely against Valero until he figured him out because he can't get hit flush early by Valero (no one can). Valero has good timing himself actually.

Marquez is a tougher fight for Valero than Pacquiao and Valero is a tougher fight for JMM than a Pac rematch!

I still can't see it he fought a guy he was supposed to beat and he did. He's been fightind overseas against cans, and he's already matched against greats.
I'll tell you what put him in with Katsidis first then we'll talk.
By the way Katsidis had a much stiffer challenge on that card and was more deserving of the headliner

A huge fan of JMM, i've been following his career for quite some time and although he has accomplished alot over the last couple of years ... he's still shown to have to flaws in his game that can hurt him against one of these explosive young guys.

He has no defense for the left hand ... he's been in there with Pacquiao, Jandeng, and Jaca ... and they have all got the left hand in there against him ... for the exception of Pacquiao - those other two weren't elite level fighters and they busted JMM up ... and I know for a fact that Valero is more explosive, faster, and strong than those guys ... hell you can even make an arguement that he's just as fast and strong as Pacquiao if not a bit more.

Marquez is also a notoriously slow starter ... he's had to fight his way back into fights and something like that will catch up with you in the long run ... thats how he lost against Pacquiao both times and how he lost to John ... if you can keep a high steady pace on a consistant level then you can beat him.

The only reason why it didn't work for Diaz is because he got reckless and start walking into punches instead of being a controlled discipline fighter.

Valero definitely has the goods to beat Marquez !! and thats not disrespect to Marquez, he's a great fighter but I think there's something special about Valero and I'm happy that the US public would be able to see him more often.

Marquez was awfully slow getting going against Diaz, I would agree.

No one is going to stand and trade with Valero and survive. Juanma has got to be a total technician if this fight happens. No getting into exchanges or especially fighting off the ropes. It may not be as crown pleasing but he would need to do it! Also, he needs to work the jab for a full 12 rounds to try and keep Valero out of rhythm. I'd also advise him to be economical with his punches and when he has the right hand set up, to throw it with full power. He's got the great ring intelligence to do it but can he hold back the warrior in him so he's does not get caught with something huge? Like I said, it would be the toughest fight for Valero but he is such a monster, I just don't know.

Yeah got JMM career set on dvd n its was when he first fought pacman people loved him so HBO showed his next fight which turned out to be a stinker, so HBO dropped him and he was flying of to Indonesia to fight Chris John for $32,000 and lost slightly controversially. In his next fight (watch on utube) against Jandaeng he was much more aggresive, so he could get back on big promotional cards. He has being fighting more aggresively since, getting cut or dropped more. Watch his early fight against Freddie Norwood to see how passive he used to be. Makes Wlas look exciting.
