If a guy like Jimrex Jaca can hurt Marquez, Valero can surely do a lot better..

i don't know about manny but if jmm lose, that's one big fight out of the window. surely he could make more fighting floyd, cotto or mosley but jmm is the biggest fight for him without the size disadvantage.

Don't get me wrong, I personally would love to see a third fight. I just get the sense that Manny could live without stepping in with Marquez again. Telling everyone the "business is finished" in a fight you won by a point is saying something.

well, he said that just after the fight. it is a different feeling if you are the one fighting and you are just watching. sometimes, we see fighters complaining why they lose a decision when they honestly feel that they have done enough to win and after watching the fight on tape they would see that they actually did not perform as well as they felt during the actual bout.

this is also the reason why seconds should give an accurate account of what's happening inside the ring. a fighter might be thinking that he is way ahead but he is actually not.

jmm is not obliged to fight valero but it sure is a good lightweight matchup if he can't get pac, hatton or floyd. and they are within the same division and both champions so why not? pac almost fought valero then at 135 before oscar offered him a fight.

    Why not?!?!?!

Come on man. Marquez has spent his entire career playing second fiddle, destroying the very best unfamous guys. He's an old man now. Ready for retirement. Why the hell should he step in with yet another dangerous up n comer? The man's put in the work for years, given us some incredible fights, yet he's largely went by under the radar outside of hardcore boxing fans.

Whatever happens May 2nd, i hope the next fight will be Hatton Marquez. JMM is too small for either Ricky, Manny or Floyd, but out of the three, he'd have the best chance against Ricky, and the fight would be in a UK stadium - massive payday for Marquez.

JMM is past fighting guys like Valero, unless the money is too good to pass.

I'd never accuse JMM of ducking Valero. That's ridiculous, the man has paid his dues and deserves big paydays in the twilight of his career.

If he can do better business than Valero at this point, he should.

calm down man. i said if he doesn't get pac, hatton or floyd. jmm deserves a huge pay day. but if he can't get any of the three, his next best option is valero who is also a champion in his weight class.

and what the **** are you talking jmm is too small for pac? jmm is a career featherweight while most of pac's fight happened at 112 and 122. i don't see why jmm is undersized against pac when he looked even bigger against the baby bull.

If hatton wins then I'll give JMM credit if he fights him. But if Pac wins JMM shouldn't be feasting at pac's leftovers, or he'll forever live in pac's shadow.

manny basically has the body type that can grown naturally through the weights. as his weight naturally incresed, and his strength and speed went along with it. manny's genetically gifted that way.

a guy like marquez isn't. when he stopped growing (early 20s) then that was it for him. he was "stuck" in his weight class. these days marquez is still really a super feather, but he's been trying to chase pac through the weights.

at lightweight, marquez is a pretty small guy. against casa the sizes were close, but against juan diaz, marquez was giving a lot away physically. diaz was overpowering and destroying him for most of the fight. but the vastly overpowered fighter hung in there, kept hitting him to the body whenever he could, and eventually it payed off.

it's not very often you get to see a good small guy beat a good big guy, but juan did that that night.

juan's clearly the P4P best in the world. if manny wants a rubber, then it has to be at lightweight at the heaviest - or else its a repeat of the DLH situation - force the guy to compete at a weight he cant compete at.

and the way i feel - knowing how cowardly team pacquiao are - that's exactly what they'll do after hatton.

if marquez was fighting guys his size, could you see ANYONE bullrushing him round after round the way Diaz did?

The reality is if Pac wins against Hatton he'll target PBF or Cotto next long before JMM gets another shot. On the other hand if Hatton comes out victorious JMM will have a chance of landing that fight if PBF passes on the Hatton rematch. Arum really doesn't want to do a third Pac/JMM match at least not until Pac lands all the bigger money fights first or if he happens to lose along way.

The best thing JMM could do in this situation while waiting is accept Valero's challenge and show that he is the king at 135.
