It’ll be interesting, depending if they learned from the first fight as for loma if López gets to overconfident and he (Loma)himself applies his tools early he can win and maybe by knockout and as for Lopez d0 what he did the in their fight but maybe be more active when loma is on defense. It’ll be interesting if it even happens. $$$ talks
Lomachenko needs the rematch He's the one that thought he could cope at that weight, we've had Arum and talksport describing him as the best boxer since Sugar Ray Robinson and if he drops down in weight and dominates he's never gonna get that respect back Even if he loses a rematch but it's extremely close he will get some credit back
With him getting KOed. There's a lot more to the adjustments he has to make than "just fight like that sooner", if it was that simple he would've done it. He was looking fairly weak in the 12th, and it's mroe tiring if you have to fight out of your rythm, plus he'd be coming off worse in each exchange, because he'd have to be less picky about them. Plus he mostly attacked when he managed to use footwork to get Lopez in a bad position, and I think he was trying from early on to do it, it was only later he started having any success. For sure he needs to throw more and take more risks, but he needs to change more than that. I think he needs to look more for single shots and counters rather than focusing get in the perfect position of fancy KOs. He needs to worry less about hi-tech combos and just go for any slight victory. He needs to punch and counter while on the defensive, instead of turtling up until he got in the perfect position to attack. He could also do with punching a lot more on the back foot, though I do accept that's not going to happen as much with his reach disadvantage. I think it'll depend just as much on what Lopez can do. Lopez will also be a more experienced fighter in the rematch, and with youth on his side had a lot more potential to improve and adjust. So even if Loma does everything right, a lot depends on how Lopez developes, on the other hand Loma could come in the same, except with more wear and tear, and be up against a Lopez that's lost focus and got caught up in the hype. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch, it's a good fight, but I don't think there's any special need for it beyond any other fights against top opponents. I'm sure Loma will be chasing for one though.
Loma is good at making adjustments. But as we saw in this fight, Lopez is fast, powerful and has skills. It'll be a close fight but Loma knows he has to start taking risks sooner or try a different approach from the very beginning. Intriguing fight.
Loma can make adjustments but the size difference was significant. Lopez was disciplined and fought a great fight. Loma waited too long to turn up the heat but he knew it would be dangerous to take big chances when Teo was still fresh. Loma landed some good shots in the second half and had Teo’s head snapping back impressively at times. Some of the punches Teo landed to the body late were definitely south of the border. I hope Loma returns the favor if it happens in the rematch. Also, Lopez’ father instructed him to push Loma off later in the fight when he got too close. He followed instructions nicely even though this is technically illegal and was allowed to happen several times later in the fight. He was fortunate the ref didn’t follow the rules of boxing. Intentionally pushing an opponent to make space is illegal. It was a smart move because it worked to stop some of the late Loma rallies.
Lomachenko's plan was not to start slow or run the first six rounds.. He felt Teofimo's punch very early and went to plan B witch was to move for a few rounds expecting the kid would get tired since he is not used to fight ten or twelve rounds. After the six his corner knew he had lost every single round and decided to fight and go for broke... That caught Teofimo by surprise and Loma was able to win four rounds.. In the last round Loma got hurt and have the bell come 30 seconds later he was going to get knock out. In a second fight Loma might fight different and probably will have a better chance but Teofimo has a punch to knock anybody out from lightweight to Jr. Welterweight.
Seems that I’m in the minority but if Loma does start like that (baring in mind that Lopez will have a full gas tank), I’d pick Lopez to stop Loma.
