If a Marciano fight was suggested to Robinson, when would it have been?

Personally, I think this is probably a myth.

I would have thought the most likely time that a potential fight with Marciano was mentioned was if Robinson was moving into the Light Heavyweight division. I doubt he would skip the Light Heavyweight division altogether and go for the Heavyweight Title.
If so, then Marciano would have been considered as a future opponent if Robinson successfully challenged Joey Maxim. But Marciano wasn't the champion at the time, Walcott was.

The next most likely time would be when Robinson's stock was high in being the champion again by which time Marciano had fought his last bout and again Robinson would have to skip the Light Heavyweight title...

So the impression I get is that it was never even mentioned to Robinson and so there was no 'Are you trying to get me killed?' reply.

    It's just a myth.

Might've been offered during his normal MW reign in '52. I mean it wasn't unheard of for the MW champ to fight a heavyweight. Hell, Greb did it all the time

I don't imagine this fight was ever on the table. Robinson was known to sit in his dressing room before fights and threaten to walk if the promoters didn't cough up more at the last minute.

I don't think there was any amount of money someone could've paid him or could've coughed up at the last minute to get him in the ring with Marciano.

    Marciano wasn't Bobo Olson.

Serious. Remind you, we´re in a Rocky thread.

Whoever brings up Rocky - Lewis, has to discuss a fight against Robinson doing the Cockell.

Robinson and Jones weren't at all the same size.

Robinson never fought C ockell. Unless I've misread your post and you were referring to someone else knocking out Don C ockell.
