What actor do you think could play him best? For me, the first one who comes to mind is Antonio Banderas.....unless I think of somebody that looks more like him. Maybe we should ask Alain Delon about this, as he and King Carlos frequently jet-setted back during their respective heydays.
If a movie was made, it would probably star Ben Affleck and be the tale of a bad man with a good heart. :barf To be honest, with biographies I like it to be unknowns (or at least rare actors). Looking like the person is fairly important, but not that important; the key is the mannerisms. Will Smith looks nothing like Ali, but he got down the personality as well as anyone could.
Not that he particularly looks like him, but I think Benico del Toro could do a good job. He has that cool, psychotic calm about him.
I don't know of any actor around today who would be a convincing Monzon, but a guy from the 60's, actor Henry Silva, would certainly look like Monzon, and since he played alot of tough-guy roles, could probably have done as good a job as anybody. Googla Henry Silva if you're not familiar with him and see what I mean.

Yes indeed, he always played those Colombian drug lords/revolutionaries rather well. For me, Antonio Banderas is the first one who came to mind simply because of his versatility; he can be both the ladies man as well as the seething macho man, as Carlos definitely was in real life. Benicio Del Toro is a good one too, given his versatility as both a lover and fighter. I'm afraid Tom Cruise just wouldn't do it. If I'm not mistaken, he was also suggested to play Duran. I can't see how this would work. Tom is one hell of an actor, but he seems too much like an Ivy League prep than a hateful, angry street-bred Latino who lived and loved to fight. For Duran, I would nominate Jay Hernandez. He can act angry and macho, plus he and young Roberto(see pictures) could practically be twins.
