If a punch lands on the gloves, and they go down, should it be scored as a knockdown?

In that case, should it be called a knockdown?

Yes, but if we’re talking about the Benavidez KD, that was a trip.

But what if the fighter goes down after the bell rings but the punch was landed before the bell?

Legal punches and scoring punches are not the same thing all scoring punches are legal but not all legal punches are scoring like this situation you are talking about, a legal punch that is blocked by the gloves and the opponent still goes down is a knock down and it will be counted as a knockdown, this is my understanding. The scenario iam imagining is with a fighter moving off the centre line with his guard covering the near side of his head and he gets check hooked on the glove the power follows through and he goes down, it makes sense but then you remember that at any point in a fight a fighter can take the knee and gets a count, this is counted as knockdown and he gets the count or the standing 8 also counts as a knockdown and a fighter doesn’t even have to hit the deck

The rules are if a punch lands & results in a knockdown - it’s a knockdown

I suppose if a punch lands on the gloves while an opponent is blocking in say an ear muffs stance & he goes down as a result of the
Force of that punch . It should still be a knockdown.

If a goalkeeper saves a shot but the force of the shot is so powerful it knocks them backwards and the ball subsequently ends up crossing the line as the goalie has ahold of it, is it a goal or not?

If the fighter closes his eyes as the punch lands, did it land?

Like that one people say, if a tree falls and nobody is around, does it make a noise?
    Or some daft ****

Get the scoring punch argument completely, but imo if a man is powerful enough to knock you down by landing on your guard, then it's a knockdown for me.

I’ve said before, this is mainly a forum for people who wish they knew boxing.

the rules are the rules, the organisation rankings are the rankings, the belt holders are the belt holders etc….nobody cares what anybody’s personal take is. These are what they are.

If it’s scored a knockdown, you scored a proper point!
