how many do we have? considering the giants (for the most part), have only been with us 25 - 30 years. Fighters OVER 6' 3" and 225 lbs. IF we've got 50 Champions & Contenders, and at least another 100 or so Journeyman & Tomato Cans, then we have a Division!
NO it's SUPER - HW, and most fighters smaller than 6' 3 were also under 225 lbs... just looking to see how many actual proper Bigmen are/were in that stats to determine a S-HW division... seperating the giants from typical HWs.
Yes, yes, we know you've hated boxing since colour TV and dont watch it anymore, thistle1. No need to sugarcoat where you're heading with this
Don't try 2 understand d criteria 4 this sort , i try 2 make it quick it's both by size & by quality and then by d order i recalled each 1 . Valuev Vitali Wladimir Lewis Bowe Akinwande McCline Tucker Michael Grant Mitch Green Alexander Zolkin Foreman Douglas Sanders Virchis Helenius Fury David Price Deontay Wilder (still lacks d weight) James Smith Now d journeymen will b : Hoffman Biggs Dimitrenko Ustinov Lance Whitaker Luan Krasniqi Savarese James Broad Mariusz Wach Corey Sanders Tye Fields Tony Thompson Ray Austin Nicolay Popov Jaco (lacked d weight) Mike White Mike Rouse Wills John Tate Carl Williams Audley Harrison Jorge Luis Gonzales Yamplier Diaz Raymond Olubwale David Cadieux Patrice L'Heureux Buddy Baer (thank Longhorn) Abe Simon less than journeymen : Carnera Willard Cooney Ernie Terrell Malcolm Tann Julius Long Derrick Jefferson Kevin McBride Maurice Harris David Bostice Fred Fulton (hope i don't confuse him with Bill Tate) Calvin Jones Faruq Saleem Ed White Keith McKnight (usually lacked d weight) currently 62 names remark : d weight comes with d height inevitably . So do we have a division yet ? i don't think we will ever reach 100 less than journeymen here . Not @d next 4-5 years at least . I may recall a few more so i laid d foundation & hope 2c some nice completions
what do you mean where I'm heading with this? NO amount of Sam Langford's or Tommy Burns' are going to compete with the absolute TOP S-HWs. so I'm just trying to see as many of Boxing's true S-HWs as possible and then discuss them on that note. it's a fair and accurate line of question!
It infuriates me that people think they can add a height limit to a weight division. Sorry Mr Hearns its Light Heavy or nothing.
Absolute top super heavyweight? There've only been four. Lewis, Bowe and both Klits all have lost to guys who were lighter and shorter than they were. McCall, Rahman Brewster, Byrd and Holy are all under your height requirement. When they crushed Wlad, Sanders and Brewster were barely at your weight "limit". A guy will come along at about 6' 2-3, 210-220 lbs with wrecking ball power in both hands and all the talk about a super heavyweight division will evaporate very quickly.
This division will rock!!!! I fully support it! Peter and Brown should rematch for the Undsiputed Super Heavy Title! This content is protected
less then journeyman : carnera, willard and cooney ?????????? hmm i am very intrested by what standard you judge them by
Great start and though no expert (me), Audley & Tyson Fury have got to be at the very bottom of the lists? and Carl the truth Williams, and Lou are much better, NO?
Baer was 6' 2-1/2" and post Joe Louis fight, averaged about 220 lbs. He would have moved up to Super Heavy with Louis dominating the heavy ranks like he was
