If Abraham goes to 168 and fights Kessler.... how do you see it going?

    Lil off-topic:

We often compare AA defensive approach with Winky Wright's but alot of people say that AA hasn't really the phyiscal tools in terms of body frame to do it effectively (this is on pure defensive, don't get me started with Winky's superb jab).

So I did a little research on boxrec which shows that both have nearly the same height (5'10" AA, 5'10 1/2" Wright) and also the same reach (72"). Now we always talking about Winky's ape-like long arms and his frame to be stocky which plays into this nicely, using the so-called "turtleshell defense".

Well, I tried my best to find a good picture which compares both frames and finally noticed that both have nearly the same (for me it's just the same) body frame. But look for yourself (as one of the parameters I used the location of their brachial joints):

if AA lands clean, kessler will go. Mundine had kessler in trouble in the last round of their fight. Calzaghe had him in trouble with body shots. he is a great fighter, but vulnerable. AA fought through a shattered jaw. I doubt kessler has that same fortitude. I like AA to catch kessler ~rd 11, and put him away.

I also see that as a possibility. I don't think it's in Kesslers make-up to run to the scorecards if he established a lead and I could see him outboxing AA for 9 rounds or so then taking unnecessary risks towards the end.

AA's one punch KO power means he's always dangerous at any point in the fight.

Kessler has NEVER EVER faced someone with the power of AA. Joe Calzaghe(feather fisted as he is known around here) hurt him with a body shot, AA is a VERY underrated body puncher, watch miranda 2, Please don't try to convince yourselves AA is not going to the body against kessler, AA catches Kessler late rounds for a KO! I predicted AA going to smw is going to be better for his career. He looked really good at the higher weight against miranda. I also predict, AA at 168 will beat BUTE, ANDRADE, Kessler and JERMAIN TAYLOR. J Taylor based on the lacy fight, which in my opinion looked awful. I actually think an AA J Taylor fight will look a lot like the J TAYLOR LACY fight, with AA's defense and power being the overwhelming force. Bute vs Andrade was the deciding factor in my opinion of BUTE vs AA. AA does not waste punches, excellent defence murderous power, AA KO Bute Round 9. It is my opinion, hopefully we can have constructive debate, I would like to hear from others about what I wrote!

haha well played. i think its safe to say that abraham will be a player at smw at some point. who would stop him from getting a shot at kessler?? froch?? taylor?? maybe both, maybe neither?? either way, if kessler keeps his spot on top, there is a real chance this could happen but i'm not sure if abraham can beat him. i think we will have a better idea of how he would fair against kessler when AA faces pav (assuming this ever happens) kessler is a bit quicker than pav but is similiar in that he can be a little stiff and robotic and not a whole lot of head movement and both he and pav have high work rates.

Props to AA for the chin and heart he showed in the first Miranda fight, but he couldn't attack with the same venom when he was hurt.

Kessler can both brawl and box....if the fight was an out and out slugfest then my money would be on Abraham, but if Kessler mixes it up a bit and manages to hurt AA a bit then i'd fancy him to see it through to a points win.

It could go either way though, that's why I hope it happens.

haha yeah i know...and i'll be the first to admit i have followed pav since he fought w/ hair but he and kessler are kinda similar. funny thing is, that doesnt mean either AA or pav wouldnt be able to beat kessler...i'm not saying they cant. its just that if aa doesnt look good against pav he'll look even worse against kessler

Good luck on that. See how it has gone so far?

VOLUME is a serious problem for AA. Maybe he can do more if he isn't weight drained. Outside Germany he is going to lose a lot of point decisions. And yes, taller boxers ARE going to be a problem for him, especially if he doesn't break his habit of going to the ropes. A well conditioned athlete with some pop in his punches and a reach advantage out points him all fight long.

ive said aa may have a hard time against kessler...and i still think that. having said that, aa has some pretty heavy hands. kessler was hurt worse than a lot of people think against calzaghe by a body shot and i think that a 160lb aa has much more pop than a 168lb joe

i agree that volume is a problem for aa b/c of the way he likes the flow of his fights to be but if he can time kessler's shots and counter out of that shell of his with some of those heavy lefts (like that one out of nowhere that floored miranda)...then who knows...it may change the entire tone of the fight.

As far as kessler's chin goes. It ain't iron. He almost got dropped and shook to his boots by sartison with an overhand right. Against AA though
he's too smart for that peek-a-boo style of AA
    Kessler comfy UD
