IF Adamek beats Vitali, would that surpass Buster Douglas beating Tyson?

Would be huge and history making at the same time but not near the level of Tyson - Douglas.

Tyson vs Douglas was not only the biggest upset in Boxing but one of the biggest upsets in Sports period.

Look, "Big Bus" Douglas was an enigma..... BUT! The S.O.B. was gifted with talent / ability.... The Douglas who KO'd Mike Williams in 1988 and parked Tyson in 1990 was a serious mother****er...... I'm not sure a 2011 version of Adamek could beat that type of Douglas....... The Douglas who flopped against Holy in Oct. 1990 out in Vegas was a pizza eating pug......

No. Buster and Tyson were both prime. 42-1 underdog????

    no order:

    Douglas over Tyson
    Spinks over Ali
    Leonard over Hagler
    Ali over Liston
The last one...wow. I want to say Duran over Leonard, but imma do the research lol.

Agreed that the performance of Buster was unbelievably great and that's why he (and few others) have put on such a display before or after. Call Buster a journeyman all you want (it's probably accurate at different stages) but he had some pretty good other performances before against legit guys. He had incredible tools and was skilled, he was just inconsistent. As you say he put it together one night to really shine and etch himself into everyone's memory.

I agree with those other postres that it won't quite compare cuz of tyson's air of utter invincability and fireceness. (Vitaly is very tough to beat, but he doesn't win like tyson). One could conceive of a scenario (though very unlikely) where Adamek could outpoint Vitaly if the 40 year old Vitaly gets "old overnight" or just isn't on top of his game. It was damn near impossible to imagine Buster beating tyson at his own game (tho tyson appeared to be a bit underprepared), taking a hellacious kd, and stopping mike late

I just don't think it will be less shocking because Adamek is a former lhw and cw champ and 'top 10' contender and thus somehow less of a long shot than buster. Adamek has little business with the 'very' big boys as was evident imo in less than stellar bouts w arreolla and grant. Buster may have had a couple more losses at the time, but he was capable of being a legit hw contender in most eras

Don't think ANYONE expected Dougles to win other then his Family.

Most Poles are confident that Adamek will pull off a victory, at least I I'm confident that Adamek will become the first Polish HW champion of the world.

Come on...Like Dio said, we gotta believe. It will bring strength to Adamek. He's gonna need it!

I guess your right. Sometimes you just can't change history. Its etched in stone. Tyson's 1st loss & a dramatic one. Buster fought the fight of his life.

I don't think it would be anywhere near the level of Douglas-Tyson for various reasons.

I actually think Adamek has a slim shot at this, but I do favor Vitali considerably.

No, no one cares about a HW who couldn't punch through a wet paper bag. Get it.

Don't give me that wet paper bag ****. You get in there a take a few of Adameks combo's...jackass. Even without KO power @ HW doesn't mean he can't outbox who's in front of him.
