I think that p4p rankings are not only about skills. Adamek isnt the most skilled fughter in the sport, I admit it. But in terms of hard working and heart to fight he is definitely a top3. Add to this being 2-division champion and now contender in 3rd division.
This is the fabled 'if Adamek can beat Arreola then Manny Pacquiao would be able to as well' argument?
Winning belts should carry no weight in a P4P sense (no matter the division). It is who the fighter beat, because if someone picks uo a cheap belt from a weak beltholder, then there should be no impact on P4P. You admit that Adamek's skills are not that impressive, and we agree on this. I also agree with you that Adamek has loads of heart and is very hard-working. I just don't think that most people see those qualities as being P4P qualities really. However, they are popularity qualities - as we know from Gatti - who was one of the most popular fighters of his era despite not being one of the most skilled. PS. I am answering you because you come off as a fan, but a somewhat reasonable one - unlike some of Adamek's other fans).
I read an interview with Dawson few weeks ago. Do you know what Chad said about his toughest opponent? He said that the most difficult fight in his career was against Adamek. Dawson explained that Adamek was the worst opponent he ever fought because Tomasz was still moving forward and after receiving so much punches, most fighters would have lost a will to fight, but not Adamek. http://www.bokser.org/content/2010/03/05/094531/index.jsp
What I am trying to say is that despite not being one of the most skilled fighters, Adamek is a nightmare h2h opponent for almost every fighter. Then I agree. So in other words, Adamek beat twice Paul Briggs, who at this time was definitely a top 3 at LHW. At CW Adamek beat no1 Cunningham. I agree that its more impressive than winning some ABC belts.
It doesn't surprise me. Adamek has tons of heart and courage. Anyway, mate. I feel like a party pooper here, so I'll wander off. Adamek IS of course a good fighter, and he makes Poland pproud for sure. Is he P4P material? Probably not. Can he beat Arreola? Perhaps. If he can it will be a good win despite Arreola being technically as flawed as is possible... but it will still not be easy for Adamek , simply because of Arreola's size. I hope adamek can pull it off. It would be great and I would then look forward to see where he would go from there.
Alright guys, last chance for casting your vote, the poll will close in a few hours! IF Adamek wins tonight, where would he rank on your P4P lists? :think
The fight is just a few hours away, so it's the last chance to vote for Adamek's P4P rank which will be at stake at the end of the show. :good
I'd heard the quality of analysis on Eastside was **** and that most posters are complete idiots but I didn't fully apppreciate this view until I read this thread. Adamek wouldn't make a Top 30 P4P list. Adamek v Fat Useless Arreola is seen as a 50/50 fight by the bookies. These are two also ran heavyweights. Adamek Top 10........ha ha ha ha ha ha ha..........****ing hilarious.
Who said P4P fighters have to be real crafty? That's just one criteria out of many. While Adamek may not be top ten in any one particular criteria,he seems to have a very good overall package. Its the overall package, plus your resume, that counts.
Adamek let's his resume do the talking and noobs like you just keep yucking. as it stands he is putting himself in a position to be the first fighter in the history of boxing to win belts from 3 different weight classes including heavyweight. If that doesn't prove your P4P merit, I don't know WTF does.
