Hrgovic probably thought 7/1 underdog Zhang would be an easy fight given his medical problem against Forrest. I don't think he was dialled into that fight at all, nor did he seem to want to be there but he still went 50-50 over 12 rounds and got the nod. Zhang then fought Joyce and beat him up, stopping him inside 6. The same Joyce who most favoured to beat Joshua prior to that.

I think we'd see a more hungry, motivated and mentally prepared Hrgovic than we saw vs Zhang and Joshua is a lot mentally weaker than Zhang. Joshua hasn't done well on short notice in the past either and is probably in a bad mental space for several reasons. I think Hrgovic would turn Josh over.

 

And Hrgovic had personal problems. if you see one thing, try to see other thing as well

 

Hard to say, I think a lot here are selling Joshua short. I think it is pretty likely to be a boxing match rather than a war and a close Joshua decision would be a likely outcome from that.

I don’t think it can be used fully as an excuse. A more reasonable one is that for 6/7 rounds Zhang has serious power and will trouble most HWs. Powerful quick left hand. So Zhang is better than what anyone thought.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. Would Hrgovic sparred exclusively southpaws? I don't know. But Joshua will always have a target on his back. I'm sure Hrgovic has spent far longer running what if Joshua scenarios through his head over the years than the other way around.

 

So for years I've said Hrogvic will be a world champion but after the Zhang fight I am really struggling to back him, he looked terrible and unless there were underlying issues we are not aware of there is no excuse other than just not being that good.
Who knows. Zhang's stock has obviously risen since then even more. Anyway based off recent
performances I back AJ to win.

I would imagine the main of his sparring would have been taken up by southpaws given that he is in line to fight one next. His training team wants sacking otherwise.
