I dunno man, the reason most people get into it is for financial gain. I might be wrong but if it was me (I’m in a similar position, wife, kids, dog, etc) I’d sack it off if I’d made x amounts of millions of dollars. Just my perspective. I may be wrong.

    Nah. It makes perfect sense.
It´s a lot easier when you are winning fights and making millions. But things change once you start loosing.
We have seen many fighters loose their motivation after a single loss. Especially those who have made significant financial gains.

And then there are those like say Gabe Rosado. Rosado has made a fraction of what Joshua makes for a single fight. But it has been really good money. He is able to take care of his family, has a invested into real estate and even built his own gym. He still makes good money for each fight and is as motivated as ever. This after 12 losses inside the pro ring. And some bad beatings as well.

Pacquiao would be the better example. He could have retired a decade ago. Every fight is big enough to set him for life, but he loves the sport and keeps working his ass off.

Miguel Cotto lost his hunger for a while. As did Maidana. But they both came back strong. You just never know.

Actually fair enough, too true! You just never know. Maybe Joshua comes back and wipes everyone out. Unless you’re mystic meg who knows pal!

If he gets stopped again he is done at the elite level

Other big punchers will surely take him out

As others have already commented on this thread, it will be similar to Price, but on a higher scale

    AJ must win this fight

I think he CAN win, but I am backing Ruiz

I think Ruiz will come from behind and put Joshua out of there in rounds 8 or 9

I almost want him to lose just to see what happens, But, unfortunately I just think it’s gonna turn out a fluke and Joshua beats him easily. Hate to be a kill joy, but as much as I’d like Ruiz to beat him again, reckon we’ll all be disappointed. Life just isn’t that kind.

If he boxes safe, he likely wins!

I just have a feeling that Ruiz will also have improved and he KNOWS he can hurt AJ

For selfish reasons, I want Joshua to win. As the fight with Wilder/Fury will be much bigger than Ruiz fighting either guy!

Gut feeling AJ on points in this, think a better AJ will turn up.
Can see a Ruiz win but I'm going with AJ atm.

I actually think the opposite, I think if he boxes safe he gets beat, I think his best shot is just rush Ruiz and bomb him out early doors like the old reckless Joshua.

I think a lot of people are high on Ruiz right now but I think (no reason really, apart from everyone is expecting the opposite) Joshua will surprise us all and go try bomb him out, not sure if it works or not but it would be good to watch.

I see what you mean, but that's a risk too

i guess fighting safe will also be very risky and will likely make Ruiz more confident and march forward and force openings

AJ looks very lean, I expect him to jab and be more mobile

I dunno, Joshua is at his best on the front foot letting his hands go, sure, that obviously has risks involved but he’s not convincing boxing and moving. That’s what got him in trouble in the first place. Ruiz had a look at him pawing a dodgy jab out and just measured him the first time he made a mistake. Repeating it would be stupid, Ruiz thinks he can deal with Joshua’s power (which he never really got into) so if I’m Joshua I put Ruiz in a firestorm from the off. Let him know your not f*cking about.

Tyson was still getting big money title shots 5 years after he bit a chunk out of someone's ear.

David Tua and David Haye were still one win away from title shots when they were completely shot.

Heck, even Pricey has had a late career renaissance and was still having fights of consequence up until this year.

Casual boxing fans love a story about how a former champ is building himself back up in his mid-late 30s, he's looking better than ever, he wants to eat his opponents kids.

AJ if his heart is in will have at least 2 or 3 redemption fights before Brits give up on him. He seems switched on so at least he won't have to fight purely for cash.

Nah, anyone can be rebuilt, and re-tooled. Even after multiple losses. There are an abundance of fighters that have been derailed to comeback bigger and to make more money than prior to their "blip". All it takes is time and strategic match ups.

These type of immediate rematch's don't happen very often. Joshua's career and legacy are on the line. Can Andy do it again? The intrigue and excitement come fight week will be immense.
I have no problem paying out an extra fiver for this card. The main is event is worth it and for once the undercard is stacked.

I think Ruiz is going to stop him even earlier this time. Ruiz is all wrong for him and was giving him trouble before the 3rd round. As soon as he lands, it's over. Joshua will get flash backs.

Ward is the best most recent example I can think of. Yes, he didn’t lose, but we’re talking about a guy at the top of the game, deciding he didn’t want to put his body through it anymore, and didn’t have that desire anymore. He was what, 33! For the fans it’s disappointing, but it’s the right thing to do if that’s where your mind is at. With millions in the bank, I’d sooner have my marbles intact for later on in life. It’s so easy to lose that hunger, once money leaves the equation.
