Yeah, he could bully AJ for the first few rounds. I could see a catch left hook counter knocking him out like Chisora got KOd.
He shouldnt retire, as there is still a huge earning potential, even if he did appear on the slide. But I think he would retire. Silk PJs and all that jazz.
How exactly is Whyte going to beat Joshua? He has two weapons, his jab and his left hook (which he has to get really close to an opponent to land or have them coming to him at the same time he throws it like Parker did). Other than that he's a flat-footed plodder with a very basic high guard which he inexplicably abandons for spurts, and a chin that's a magnet for uppercuts. Joshua is far superior in almost every department. Better, more educated jab, can punch with either hand, has a great uppercut that takes fighters heads off, and since the Ruiz fight has become much lighter on his feet and less prone to just head hunt like the tank Joshua of old. He's also got a better chin and has been in with the much better opponents. About the only advantages Whyte has are his willingness to sell out on shots a bit more than Joshua, which gives him superior one hit power, at least on the left hook. This fight won't be competitive.
If he gets KOd by Whyte he needs to retire. He beat Whyte before and Whyte was never a very good boxer to begin with. AJ would be mentally devasted and in an even worse state emotionally than after the first Ruiz loss. It would show just how limited he is as a boxer and that he reached his ceiling long ago. At least Wilder vs Whyte would be a hilarious build up before Wilder splatters Whyte.
Both have glass jaws Both are shot to pieces It's too close to call. It might end up coming down to mental strength and Whyte has him beat there
Whyte can't win any decision against Joshua, so if he is shot (and I agree, he is) he really doesn't have much of a chance. Even if AJ is shot too, he can jab for 12 rounds and get a decision.
