Was a fun addition to Tuesday Night Fights, back in the day. Losses to Akiwande, Tubbs, and Hunter Sr, but also beat Tubbs, Hunter Sr, Bert Cooper and James Tillis.
I don't think so he was a pretty good fighter but Akinwande, hardly a really powerful heavyweight absolutely destroyed him. I think he'd be a fringe contender like he was when he fought.
Zolkin is from my hometown. I admit he was really only fringe contender level. But, an interesting fact is that he was able to run a 5 minute mile during training. That is awfully impressive for a guy his size. He obviously had insane cardio genetics.
I thought he was robbed the first time he fought Tony Tubbs on Tuesday night fights. That decision was loudly booed. Anyway, I’m not terribly certain as to how he’d do today. He was an “ok” fighter I guess. In the 90s he was a respectable size at 6’5” and over 220. Today he’d be about average. He’d probably be a top 15 variety contender.
He was good, was very active but lacked power. Top 10, Top 15 today. Can beat Ajagba, Wallin, Gassev, Chisora etc
