His standing would diminish. There would be question marks about his chin and heart that weren't asked and answered until his 70s great wins; the same kind of "what if" questions that are asked about Salvador Sanchez would be asked about Ali too.

I think most people recognise the limitations of Williams at the time.
You've used the right word, all it did was showcase his talents and remarkable speed.
Even allowing for Williams' shortcomings it was exhilarating to watch coming from a heavyweight.

I feel Holmes may have eventually beaten Foreman, George didn`t like fighting tall fighters and did very well because of his reach it made it hard for opponents to hit him out of the danger zone that`s what cost the shorter armed Frazier.

Ali proved his chin when he came back because he was getting hit more.

Yes, chin post-exile combine now legacy wise with the speed in pre-exile.

I think he would be compared to Tyson better than Louis and Lewis because by the time the three year lay off came he was where Tyson was after he beat Spinks, Tyson didn`t do much after that, I don`t think Ruddock is rated above the big cat or Seldon or Bruno, he didn`t really beat anyone of note after Rooney left and looked far worse than Ali did when he came back, unless people would of rated rated Tucker above Cleveland, Tyson`s other opponents weren`t any better than Ali`s foes pre-exile.

Wouldn`t have developed Parkinsons, he was a lot easier to hit when he came back and the damage was done during the Shavers fight.
