When Ali was 36 years old he lost his title to Leon Spinks who had something like 6 professional fights at the time and only two of those 6 opponents had winning records.

Watch Ali vs Jimmy Young, Karl Mildenbarger, Henry Cooper, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Jerry Quarry. Although Ali won most of those I saw enough to realize he would look very human and very beatable vs somebody like Haye and Klitschko or even Pulev.

Seriously, Vitali at his peak could give Ali some problems.. I would still favor ALi to win but it won't be easy..

    blah blah blah
Ali was 36 but had the ring wear of a 45 by then. Ali turned pro in 1960 and most of those fights where he looked "average" were after 3 or 4 years of not being allowed to fight and some being 16 years after he turned pro with over 50 fights.... dude was past his prime after 1970. the real Ali was when he was the title holder before he was stripped....destroying everyone, barley losing a round
you use every fight where he is past his prime to gauge him today. except for the cooper 1 fight which he dominated minus a knockdown he got for being ****y

Ali had a prime once. We tend to measure guys at their absolute best. Anything else is uncivilized.

Imagine us machine the Wlad who fought Purrity against the Ali who beat Liston.:nut

    which version of ali?

version 1 was not limited. was damn near unbeatable....

his lack of size is what would be the problem in this era... he was a tall-rangey heavyweight, in this era he'd be considered small
