So if all the HW champions that ever existed were locked in a room. And only one can walk out... who is it? I thought of this question after seeing what a sportswriter wrote of Marciano. Maybe he meant this literally, maybe he meant it figuratively to describe the type of guy that Rocky was. Either way, who would be your pick?

Assuming they can't/don't make alliances with each other to gang up on the best ones, I'd likely choose Vitali Klitschko. Durable, kickboxing background, solid puncher, and most of all, BIG.
Size doesn't mean as much in boxing as it does in fights, when you have 6'7 250 pounds on you and there's no ref to seperate you, you're in deep trouble.

Got to disagree with you Muchmoore, this wouldn't come down to size, rather who can most tolerate horrific injuries and gouge another man's eyes out to win.

Basically you can't know, but Sullivan?

Sullivan's a good pick. Punching is a lot different without gloves, those that have experience with bareknuckle boxing and/or with small gloves have an edge.

Jeffries is another one that I'm tempted to pick. With his superhuman durability, wrestling background, and strength he would be a hard guy to finish.

Marciano.Louis,Dempsey and Tyson had the killer instinct but Marciano took a split nose and kept coming so I pick him...but Lewis and Vitali have the size...Jeffries and Sullivan may be in the running

The room isn't that big. You when he gets hit he is going to want to hit and hold. There is no way Vitali gets out of that room with all those champions in there. I'd pick Marciano before Vitali.

No Liston, Foreman, or Tyson picks yet? A little surprising.

Forgot about George, he smiled but was mean...he is in the running and Sonny may bring a pistol or a shive so he had a good chance

I wouldn't bet against Holyfield. He would be bashing people in with headbutts one after another.

    Good calls.

In practice I think that whoever could keep from getting engaged the longest would be the last man standing. Tommy Burns would hide behind the sideboard and then finish off whoever was left standing.

Klitschko seems a good pick.....Wouldn't a talented boxer who also happens to have a very extensive kickboxing background be favored to beat a regular boxer in a no-holds-barred type of fight? You would think so. Klitschko would have two very potents sets of skills to utilize......Provided that the room was big enough for him to use them, however.

I'm telling you as someone who's wrestled since I was a child, guys like Rocky and other sub 200 pound fighters aren't likely going to be able to stop 250 pound Vitali from getting them on the ground. It being in a room takes mobility out of the equation as well.

Their really aren't many bad choices here, if you're a Heavyweight champion, you're a rugged guy. Obviously pure boxers aren't going to succeed here though, the guy that's walking out is going to be someone with wicked strength, durability, and power.

Me too, but I don't think as extensively as you. However, I doubt Vitali ground-game or wrestling skills are any good. Kick-boxing is one thing. I don't think Vitali has the toughness nor ability to absorb enough to will himself out of this situation.

In theory, luckily. But not so fast. I guy who can run like Ali and try avoiding whatever might be able to out-last a lot of people (Assuming it's a fairly big but not huge room). Someone like Gene Tunney is probably screwed, though.
