Although he wasn't a Champion. Randall "Tex" Cobb was an expert in Karate.

I say Jack Dempsey, He literally cut his teeth on the rough and tumble I can beat any man in the house environment. I believe he would be more comfortable in a no rules situation, would hit first, fast and continue to keep going until he was the last man standing. Yes, size matters but mental mindset in a non sporting pure combative environment is a completely different animal. I have seen and experienced naturally talented stronger and bigger men get dusted by someone who is not intimidated to take it to another more animalistic level.

yeh but you would need taht proper ruthless killer instinct and go bonkers at some point

Fitz in his manuel had some very handy combat tips

for example pull your adversarys jacket down over their arms so they cant move them, Fotz would thenleather them in the face and move onto the next sucker

we all know Fitz would be getting out of there

This is what he said. Either way Vitlai is an intimidating dude.

Suzie, Vitali is a sports doctor and he quit because he thought the injury could ruin his career. If you down on quitters, then stay away from picking Liston here too.

Bull****! He quit againts a FEATHER FISTED opponent! A true champion at heart would have fought on with one arm (wich shouldnt be a problem given Quitali's size and scared fighting mode anyway :hey). I wouldnt blame him if he was in there with some heavy puncher but Chris Byrd??? :rofl Quitali is a quiter plain and simple he has no heart and no balls and he's as intimidating as an old, drunk black hooker. :deal

First of all about Jack Dempsey,
-During WWII he taught hand to hand combat to troops
    - He wrestled in training camp (as many old-timers did) and later trained in Judo
    - He also wrote a book call "How to fight tough" which was on fighting close quarters combat and included boxing, wrestling, jiu-jitsu
    - He left home at 14, was a hobo who rode the trains and woked in mining camps where he earned extra money fighting grown men for money (while just a teen)
    - Dempsey’s great trainer Teddy Hayes recalled, almost in awe, how Jack roared back against Firpo. “Then he was again the real Dempsey, the one I had seen take out a dozen men in ten minutes in the old days in the Salt Lake fleshpots."

"You're in there for three-minute rounds with gloves on and a referee. That's not real fighting" Jack Dempsey

He was perhaps the most well equipped and experienced in this kind of scenario.

My other vote for a fighter who hasn't been mentioned is Andrzej Golota (He beat Byrd and Ruiz in my opinion so why not include him)

He certianly has the size and punch, combine that with his love of low-blows, headbutts, and biting all of which he did in the ring, imagine him in a street fight.

Golota would go psychotic & he'd have a very good chance via testicle exploding, face biting mayhem.

Don't forget LaMotta. Three nutjobs and Marvin Hagler. I still pick Ketchel.
