Liston would have to be one of the favorites.
He was first and foremost a street fighter.
He was making a living as a teenager breaking heads for loan sharks.
I think he stood off 13 policemen before they finally got him down.

Well, wrestling can decide 1-1 fights but in a room full of powerpunchers, it's maybe not such a good idea to take somebody Down. What's to stop one of your rivals punching you in the back of the head?

You're awfully uptight about a fight that happened more than a decade ago. It's kinda sad, really. V. Klitschko is a legitimate pick in a situation like the one described by the OP, though I imagine that if the scenario played out 10 times it would be likely to have a different Winner each time.

May I be allowed 1 more facetious reply?

I would suggest the one with the most friends.

In addition, the ones who are still alive would be at a decided advantage, though the smell would be just awful.:yuck

    Sorry.

I know. It's the one with the key! (edit: dammit been said already)

Alright, I'll bite. I guess the real question is: if every HW Boxing champ in history was to square off against every other in a type of no rules one-on-one cage fight to death or incapacitation, then be healed to full capacity after each win, who would come out on top?

(tricky to set up rules for this 'cos bad matchups might take out some of the best, but there's others who might beat more, but not stylisticly win vs the best - also those who are able to take the least damage would benefit more from a ruleset where injuries remain.)

Within the rules above, those with more than one combat style are gonna have an edge, it'd be more akin to MMA, those with experience of genuine life and death streetfighting and bare-fist and KD-round boxing would have an edge.
Difficult to know how this would balance against the superior size and nutrition of modern HWs though. Stamina has also increased massively through improved cardio, diet and the tendency not to drink throughout a fight (a la Sullivan). Though lifestyles per-say are generally less physical these days.

    Gee. I don't know.

I know it sounds as if Im just being twatty for the sake of it, and I get you're kinda asking who's the baddest, toughest ****er with the best skills aggression stamina resilience etc. But there's no real answer. The original scenario you suggested which may have been the purest gives you an effectively random outcome, but any rules you introduce will favour a certain type of fighter.

Heart, guts and mental fortitude - a relentless refusal to quit and a willingness to do anything at all to prevail would be the winning factors I think. Psychopathy would be a definite plus.

Oh yeah, and you wouldn't be wanting to let the last guy out either, 'cos he'd eat your muthafukin heart for putting him through it.

Jeffries would come out the winner. Unlimited stamina, strong as an ox, fearless, he could fight and wrestle. This would be a grueling affair and Jeff had the goods to dominate all others before or since.

Any person who says Marciano a 180 pound fighter is a idiot and can't be taken seriously. The answer would be a big guy who is known for being a touch guy in the street. I would say Foreman or Liston.

Remember when those football players got lost at sea and when the helicopters found the boat all the pro athletes were dead and that college ball player was sitting on top? I picture something like that happening. Everyone is waiting for Ali, Foreman, Tyson, or Liston and then who comes walking out but Lamon Brewster.
