Can you imagine? Ggg 2 they said canelo would run, instead he claimed center ring and punched GGG'S **** in. Ggg was the one backpedelling with eyes wide, unable to stand and trade. Will he do it again tonight? What a sight it would be.
He very well might. The consensus opinion is that Kovalev is a shot fighter, if thats even half true you can bank on Canelo putting him out to pasture in spectacular fashion
Golovkin boxed Canelo and somehow it translates to to GGG backpedaling and not trading? Might want to rewatch the fight again.
Listen, his **** got punched in. Plain and simple. Canelo hit harder and had a better chin and better technique. GGG ran to avoid getting kod
I'm thinking Canelo does his usual defensive stuff (he's pretty damn slick), will manage to not get hit with a big one the entire fight but it'll be at the expense of a good enough offensive output. He'll occasionally work his way up close to in fight, land some nice body shots, make it look good enough for the judges but not necessarily us viewers. I hope I'm wrong, we really don't need another robbery.
It’s very possible. But considering the height and reach advantages Kovalev has, it’s kind of hard to imagine. I expect Kovalev to be the aggressor mostly in this one with Alvarez countering mostly and sometimes taking it to the middle of the ring here and there.
Yarde made a good bout with Kovalev cause he had a good footwork. Canelo tends to be static. The principal variable of this fight could be just footwork.
This is the main thing I'm looking for to see how Canelo fights Kovalev. Will he fight Kovalev like he fought GGG the first time or will he fight Kovalev Mexican Style and stand and trade with him? Could be a mixture of both and changing strategies throughout the bout.
Canelo didn't have to cut a bunch of water, but he probably added some muscle and bulk. So I'm really interested to see if he's more stationary than usual. If he is, he'd be even more vulnerable to a long-range power jabber. Overall, I expect to see some movement, circling along the perimeter of the ring, and some trading/planting on hard shots in close. Canelo is too tough and gutsy to not exchange punches at different junctures.
Footwork is more important than head movement in my opinion. Many are pointing that Canelo has great head movements. We will see in less than one hour how being static with head movement translate in practice against a taller heavy hitter with the best jab in the sport at the moment.
