Trinidad had a knockout punch, and even that only took him so far. Amir Khan won't be knocking elite level fighters out with one punch.

Jones Jr, Hearns. Both had suspect chins and both are ATG's.

Even now I think it would make for a real good fight, although i would back Pacman because of his experience. I agree that Khan needs to work on his defense (there is talk of him teaming up with the Mayweather camp)

I don't agree with all this glass-jaw khan business, he's been down twice.....SO WHAT? i recall seeing Manny on his ass on more than one occasion but nobody seems to be questioning his chin ;)

Jones Jr only starting having a suspect chin after he come down from Heavyweight, before that he was far to ellusive to get hit. Amir Khan isn't that elusive.

Tommy Hearns was a concussive puncher, and was one of the very best boxers around in his day. He outboxed Ray Leonard for most of their fight. Amir isn't as good a boxer, doesn't have hearns size advantages (he was a tall welterweight), and he lacks that knockout punch Hearns possessed.

Pacman wasn't knocked down by shot Michael Gomez.

I don't want a pretentious argument, you were the one dismissing my opinion with bold statements like "Just aint happening" with nothing really to back it up besides your own pontificating.

I actually think a move up in weight may benefit Khan. Look at DLH, at super feather his chin looked suspect but those problems dissapeared with a move up in weight.

Amir is talented but he needs to learn defence immediately. At the moment, it's abysmal which will clearly cost him against anyone at his natural weight who can punch moderately well.

You don't get put down and the closest you can possibly be to 'out' against Willie Limond if you have anything but a china chin. He needs to overhaul his style drastically and become a defensive wizard.

    Edit:

That said, dan-b's notion of his chin potentially being better at a higher weight isn't out of the realm of possibility. It doesn't look good at this stage and as he is now he's clearly very vulnerable. He's very young though, maybe that could be key. His defence needs tightening regardless though.

katsidis has a chin and defence as bad as khan, whereas khan is better in all other departmements except maybe power.

i think khan would stop katsidis now, let alone in a few fights time

he needs to be super extremely elusive to avoid getting hit in the chin, if feather fisted guys like willie limmond can hurt him i don't know how he fares against pac who has more speed and power than anyone khan has face

pacman would slaughter khan, but khan has more than a fighters chance as he has incredible hand speed and is a big lightweight, he could use his reach for a while but pacman would easily hit him, the only khan could win would be with a massive punch

The only way Khan fights Pacman at the moment is if Frank Warren knew he was gonna leave his stable after that fight, and so threw him in with Manny to ensure his stock was severely reduced.

Pacman proved he can handle the weight. Khan needs to prove he can compete at the weight.

yeah but looking at it like that you could say if someone like graham earl can be succesful with katsidis (who knocked him down and took him 5 rounds), then someone like khan who demolished earl in about a minute in his next fight would give katsidis plenty of trouble.
