If he had a chin of someone like Margo for eg, then I see no limits if he continues improving. I think it's a shame about his punch resistance issues as he has a pleasing style, fast hands and a good attitude.

Amir has the speed and skills, only his chin is betraying him. If only his chin is as sturdy as the elite fighters, then he can become P4P #1 someday. Unfortunately it's not. Hence I expect him to be starched by the time faces someone in the top level.

A lot further than he will end up going because of the weakness of his chin.

Khan can be KO'd at anytime during a fight from a variety of punches and from guys who aren't necessarily power punchers. As such, he always has to fight cautiously and 'on edge.' That is mentally and physically draining, and can set you up to make mistakes that guys with better chins (basically every other professional fighter of any stature) don't have to worry about making and ending up on their backs because of.

Example: Joe Calzaghe. Because his chin was so good he could just rush in, which is how he fought. For Khan, he has to fight at a distance and constantly be on his toes in order to hide his chin. If you get into a fight with a durable guy, late in the fight you can be worn down from all the energy you expended staying out of range.

Khan has all of the physical equipment to be an all time great... except a chin.

He has real power and, more importantly, he has some of the fastest hands in boxing currently. He has very good offensive skills. His two weaknesses have been his defence and his chin. The defence part he can improve, and I have no doubt that Roach will have been paying a lot of attention to doing that. On the limited evidence of tonight's fight, it's already improving in fact. The chin part, he probably can't do much about though.

As it is, his natural gifts and offence should be too much against almost any fighter who hasn't got power. Against a good fighter with power his fights will always tend to be uncertain - if someone catches him flush with a power shot he's in trouble, if they don't he'll probably outbox them. In fact, his career is almost a laboratory experiment to determine exactly how far someone can go without a chin.

If you added a chin of steel to his armoury, the sky would be the limit. As it is, he's going to provide a lot of excitement, dishing out a lot of punishment but always being one big punch away from the floor. It's hilarious that a fighter who can almost be guaranteed to provide entertainment (in one way or another) should be on the receiving end of so much bile and loathing. For ****'s sake, don't you people want to see exciting fights that could go either way? If you do, than Khan's someone you should be pleased to have around.

if he had atleast an AVERAGE chin, i'd favor him over alot of guys out there, with a very good chin, i'd say he'd atleast be a multidivision champ

but uhh...under roach, he's become very skilled, his defense is on par with his offense, doesn't stay in the pocket to get caught with stupid shots, his hands speeds always been amazing, plus he's big LW, he's a world class fighter even without a chin, but.....i still wouldn't favor him over the elite LW's out there, JMM is on his way to being an ATG, Guzman head-2-head is one of the best fighters P4P, Juan Diaz is a damn bull and also seems to be improving despite his 2 losses, Cassamayor's still has top notch boxing skills and he can punch, and Funeka a giant who can box, plus he has some power from the looks of it, Valero has KO power, nuff said....and Katsidis can hit, and he's a hell of a fighter himself

basically, he's probably in the most talent crowded division in the sport, just can't see him winning a title with that chin he has, i like him but, can't see it happening

If he had an iron chin he will be multi division champ. He cannot be p4p #1 even though he is very talented and explosive offensively because he will be in the era of juan ma. I am pretty sure p4p even though he has an iron chin, juan ma is still a better boxer. peace

I think Khan will pick up a world title or two. He has the skills and the talent, but he also has a suspect chin which means there will inevtiabley be a few KO loses on his record by the time he is done.

Exciting fighter, but as someone already mentioned, there are killer punchers at lightweight waiting for him. :patsch

WBO tidal and if he is lucky a few defences, if the harder guys don't get a shot.

Or Frank could let him have a go at anyone, he may win a couple and lose a couple, but he will generate a lot of money along the way.

Or perhaps win a title at lightweight and step up and fight Valero or another big name.

Or win a lightweight title, WBO, then step up and fight Hatton in a superfight. (should be beat Manny) It would generate huge money and when he lost, he could fight at lightweight again.

He won't go too long without another loss, but he won't be avoided either, and as a big draw will easily get access to bigger fights.

People warmed to Bruno after his losses and so with Nigel Benn and Eubank.

the thing is, i dont think, that we are seeing "the whole kahn". Imagine for a second, that you were in his situation, going into a fight, with the knowledge of your glass chin.. That would easely, make you more timid, you wouldnt be as confident or take the chances, which are sometimes needed, to reach the elite.

a good chin, would do his alround game, so much better.

    contender/world champ!!

even if he had a solid chin he'd still get knocked out regularly.. hes pretty one dimensional, he throws straight punches and has no defense........ he looks world class against featherweights.... and he cant knock you out! he cant hurt you, he has to overwhelm you

some1 like Prescott exposed him for his lack of boxing skills, just picked him off with single shots...... hes straight up and down

when some1s in there with proper boxing skills, you'll see how **** he actually is.....

Prescott exposed him in more ways than 1.. he walked straight onto punches

Ih he had a chin he would be multi division world champ. He is naturally a LWW anyway who is boiling down, he has the hand speed and the punch power coupled with the accuracy to beat anybody offensively but that chin wouldn't stand up to a snowball so he will never make it

Anywhere. Given his speed, still improving skill level, excellent stamina and busy style, at 22, he has a tremendous potential. You can't pull a Hamed on him, he's very different, much faster, much more textbook fighter and you can't find a boxer faster than him.

If the chin wasn't so horrible, he'd commit to sit down on the punches a little bit more. But Freddy changed his style to be on the toes and move very fast in and out, side to side, and throwing flashy punches with no pop to score and get back in defensive position as quicky as possible. Which is the right tactic for the chinny version. But Khan with an iron chin would absolutely massacre the opposition in a year or two.

The no chin version will still be ahead on the cards vs. most LW/LWW before getting knocked out. I see him getting stopped and bouncing back many times. Quite ironically, guys with better chin (Arce, Barrera) suffer the more punishment than guys with a glass jaw. That's why Khan was able to pull this on Barrera.

I for one find Khan's complete lack of punch resistence very sad. You can hardly find a young guy more exciting, charismatic and making fans love him or hate him other than Amir. He's already hated by more people than who love, hate or ever heard of let's say Mikkel Kessler, Vic Darchinyan, Ivan Calderon or Chad Dawson.

i was thinking this exact samething last night if he had a decent chin he could def be a p4p top 10 fighter in his career. big bone is right it is very sad that his punch resistance is so dire.
