If Amir Khan unifies at junior welterweight does he have a superior legacy to Hatton

Tszyu has to be the most criminally overrated "ATG" of all time and Hatton beat him when he was in decline.

If Khan beats Maidana AND the winner of Alexander/Bradley, I would regard him as besting Hatton's legacy.

Will take Khan a few years yet to do it if we're being honest.

Prime Hatton annihilates guys like Bradley etc.

This is the most criminal opinion of all time.

You can not argue with any clarity that Tszyu is not one of the top 5 140lbs fighters of all time.

Again, where he sits on an ATG list is debateable - But I would suggest his all time status is higher in the amatuers than the pros.

This, if Khan just unifies and leaves than it won't have much of an impact as opposed to him staying and defending about 4-5 times against top opposition.

Let's leave aside the Hatton defeat as that was when Tszyu was old and in decline, but how do you guys explain him getting KO'd by Vince Phillips?

Unfortunately I can't remember exactly who it was know, it may have been against Hugo Pineda, who even though Tszyu stopped him in the 11th round, Tszyu frequently looked terrible against and kept running face first into his jab and looking shabby.

A large part of my disappointment with Tszyu is due to how unbelievable he looked in the amateurs and how either he developed little after that, and/or the field caught up to him.

It would be close. Hatton still has that win against Collazo at 147. And Hatton only lost against the two best. I'd like to say it makes their legacy even or perhaps Khan surpasses him. But usually time is one of those mysterious indicators to determine such a thing. Khan would need to solidify that thinking with a longer reign. We would be looking for that even more with a guy that was KOed against a journeyman.

Yes because great boxers haven't lost or gotten knocked out MANY times against lesser opposition. :patsch

How do you explain Barrera getting knocked out by JJ?
How do you explain Rafael Marquez getting knocked out so many times by low-level opposition?
How do you explain Wilfredo Gomez getting knocked out by Alfredo Layne?
Aaron Pryor getting knocked out by Bobby Joe Young?
    Tyson by Douglas?
    Lewis by Rahman and McCall?

The list goes on and on...

It's possible that Tszyu overlooked Phillips who was a very good 140 pounder but simply had a wrong style to be fighting against bigger men at 147. Vince stopped the ultra-tough Ward in 3 rounds. As a 37 year old he gave the much bigger Vernon Forrest all he could handle. Vince was a good fighter even in his mid-40s.

Tszyu was giving up 6-7 inches in height and 8-9 inches in reach to Pineda who was undefeated at the time. And no he didn't look terrible, he looked good esp. how he was picking off Pineda's punches. The same Pineda at 37 lasted 8 rounds at LHW against Glen Johnson!

Criminally overrated "ATGs" are boxers like Ricardo Lopez, Carlos Zarate, Eder Jofre to name just a few...

If Khan impressively beats Maidana and the Alexander/Bradley winner, I think he'd have ammassed more valuable wins than Ricky - who only has a shot Kosta to his name.

But being at the tender age of 23/24, it's too early to start comparing legacies.

    Zoo wasn't shot.

It would be close if he beats winner of Bradley/Alexander, Maidana and Ortiz.

But he's getting laid out on December 11th. I personally guarantee it.

Come on guys who the **** is Maidana? Urango is a better scalp.

I'd give khan props if he beats bradley but does anyone actually see that happening? Alexander is a ****ing yankee hypejob Prime Malignaggi is a better W.

    Some perspective please.
