If Anderson fights anyone but Chael, is it fair to say he's ducking Chael???

I would say Chael deserves a shot at Silva if he can first beat a bonafide grappler. Not a guy who is extremely dangerous at stand up, but virtually helpless off his back.

To me, it sounds like you have too much invested in your positive feelings for Chael. I feel its perfectly reasonable for him to win another match, but this time against a good submissions fighter before he earns a title shot, something that people generally have to earn via victories.

Why don't you tell Dan Henderson that Anderson is "virtually helpless off his back"? :good

14 straight wins in the UFC and he has easily dominated every single opponent he's faced, (except one). I don't think that Anderson Silva is virtually helpless at any aspect of fighting. :-(

    It's very simple.

There is only one greatest fighter in UFC history.

That fighter only has one biggest rival of his career.

There is only one guy who the most dominant champion in UFC history has failed to convincingly get the better of. That guy kicked his ass and dominated him for over twenty minutes straight, before losing 8 seconds of the last round. Not even Anderson's biggest fanboys can even TRY to claim that he came CLOSE to winning even ONE of the first four rounds. Agaisnt the UFC's undefeated ATG. For that reason, that challenger deserves a rematch REGARDLESS of personality or past losses.

I want to see this legacy fight. The biggest fight out there for the best champion in the sport.

I don't want the GOAT's main rival to run some sort of obstacle course. I think he did enough in the first fight to secure a rematch. If he didn't then it's safe to say that nobody who lost a fight deserves a rematch, because you basically can't lose a fight while looking more dominant. Silva has unfinished business with Sonnen.

This is a historically significant fight, but you don't like Sonnen's personality so you'd rather see Silva-Munoz? :huh That's an inferior fight from Anderson's perspective, from the fan's perspective, for historical significance, and for the sport as an entertainment venture. :good

Let Chael fight a submission artist for his first defence. But he needs to get Anderson first. Anyone other than Chael means that Anderson is avoiding the biggest challenge of his career in the UFC.

So let me get this right.

    Silva beats Sonnen last year.

    With a broken rib.

Whilst Sonnen was on the juice.

So how does beating a healthy Silva beating a (presumably) non-cheating Sonnen add anything to his legacy?

I'm not saying don't do the fight - its the money fight. But that's all it is. We already know who is the better man and that's Anderson for the way he defeated despite the deck being stacked in Sonnen's favour.

If everything was in Sonnen's favour last time, then Anderson should have no problem showing that the last-round submission wasn't a fluke. Because if you watch the first fight, it looks a lot like a fluke. If Sonnen had of played safe in the 5th instead of being a warrior, then Anderson would have gone home having lost about the widest decision possible. He would have lost 50-43 on one card. Showing that he can improve his performance would sure as hell mean more for his legacy than beating Munoz would.

Anderson was dominated 4.5/5th against sonnen. Logic says Sonnen deserves a rematch just for making the champion look stupid almost the entire fight. We know Sonnen wasn't a fluke because he kept the champ on his back and on the defensive the entire fight, except when Silva finally was able to get a choke in, but was the choke just a fluke? Silva needs to address this.

The juice thing is so fukin ******ed. Wow, Sonnen had doctor's prescribe him enough testosterone that an average man has. Sorry a point higher. LOL What a cheat!!!! LOL If anyone had any education about this they would understand a point means FUK ALL. Even a couple points means fuk all in terms of strength, muscle size and performance.

WTF? You were the guy who was claiming that Sonnen's laying on top of Silva for 4 rounds was domination and started the "Spider beating Sonnen another time puts him ahead of Fedor" thread

Ugh. Haggis please don't fall into this stupid trap that gotard pro wrestling fans fall into where you think that "ducking" matters at all. It means even less in the UFC than in boxing (where it means almost nothing most of the time) because in the UFC the fighters don't pick who they fight, they fight who they're told by the matchmaker. Best system you can have really to make sure that good fights happen on a regular basis. In boxing it's more complicated and has to do with money and **** rather than one guy being "scared" of another, though that doesn't stop people from seizing on it as an excuse to **** talk and flame (which is really the reason a lot of people post here).

Who's talking about Dan Henderson? I was talking about matching Chael vs. Stann. If you match Chael with guys who really don't have BJJ experience, and are far lesser wrestlers, what do you expect is going to happen? There are already other better fighters in line for Anderson Silva like Munoz.

You have your own WWE modeled perspective of how guys should earn their title shots that is based off of hype, **** talk and drama. I don't. I think the wrestler prototype is the toughest match for Silva. Guys that can take him down and lay on him will have a good shot at winning, which is why back when it happened, I actually thought Henderson would beat Silva. But Chael isn't the only guy who does this sort of thing. He just talks a bunch of **** in the process. In reality his record is a bit spotty, his bane has been submission fighters. Anderson has become so well rounded he is capable of beating every style out there.

Henderson was submitted by Anderson. From his back, as I recall. Not too many guys have enough skills off their back to subdue even a hurt Dan Henderson. :good

Why does Chael need to prove himself against a submission artist, when the biggest fight in the division is him against probably the ATG striker? :huh

It's not based off "hype, **** talk and drama" at all.

It's based on the undeniable FACT that he kicked the champion's ass and made him completely ineffective for 4 1/2 rounds straight. If Chael had talked all that **** and then gotten his ass kicked like everyone else, I would have zero interest in a rematch. But his performance in the cage was light years better than ANY other challenger Anderson has faced in his UFC career.

The FACT that it also happens to be by far the biggest, most interesting and most meaningful fight in the division plays into it, sure. Why wouldn't it? :huh

Look, it's very simple. Anderson has DOMINATED everyone. Everyone. In fact, he's SO good that he has repeatedly taken the fan's PPV money and wiped his ass with it by dancing, showboating, mocking his opponent in the cage, and appearing like it was a tedious chore to have to defend his belt.

Now there is one guy who not only gave him a good fight, but did whatever he wanted with him for 23 minutes straight. He's the biggest threat in the division and there are all kinds of unresolved questions. Since when does that not warrant a rematch? :huh
