How many of us MMA fans are going to say that it proves that MMA fighters are better boxers than pro boxers? I'm GUESSING zero, I just want to know.

After seeing the couple of vids of Silva boxing and the guy who knocked him out...i am not the least bit worried about Jones losing to Anderson in a boxing match, Silva would get schooled. Still a stupid fight though.

i imagine million if mma fans will come out of the woodwork and say that this proves something. MMA is MMA and boxing is boxing in my eyes.

What I will say though, from what we've so far with MMA guys throwing hands with boxers and boxers going into mma, is that the worlds best MMA guy wouldnt have a chance against the worlds best boxer in a boxing match, but the worlds best boxer will have 'more of a chance' to beat the world best MMA guy in an MMA fight...:deal

You are correct. But what chance do the boxers have at beating the MMA fighters at their sports, i.e BJJ wrestlling, sambo etc?

I would say even less chance than the mma fighter winning a boxing match eh. :hey

He won't..anderson is gonna get KOed out cold. And then you'll have hordes of ******ed boxing fans who'll have fun poking at mma just like they recently did with Sylvia vs Mercer...

(a fight in which Sylvia originally wanted to KO and outboxing Mercer)...

Anderson will try to do the same and he'll have a major reality check.

I personally don't understand the logic behind it...It's kinda like Klitschko wanting to prove his superiority in bjj or sambo or judo when all he's good at is pure boxing.

Anderson keeps winning because he wrestles , strikes , submits...not because of his superior "sweet science"...

well only ignorant mma fans will pull that card if silva happens to ko jones, jones is shot since 2003 so anything can happen

i was rewatching a nick diaz fight on the undercard of shamrock baroni (cracking fight by the way, shamrock is a legend) the other night and the commentator's exact words were that diaz had as good boxing as top level boxers who were at the top of their game, now i have heard similar comments before but come on diaz can throw combo's that flow but his boxing is very average even at mma level, he might have koed robbie lawlor and these ******s were sucking on his dick big time

Make no mistake guys, I don't think Anderson would win. This is a hypothetical. It isn't IMPOSSIBLE that he wins, I was just gauging for what the reaction would be.

Another question. What do you think the reaction from the general forum would be?

Stupid thread we are talking about the impossible. Silva wont even beat like the Chris Henrys of the Light Heavyweight divison let alone RJJ. Its a question of if he gets killed or not.

:roll:It's not impossible. It's just extremely extremely unlikely. Obviously this is a hypothetical of the very improbable.

If Anderson Silva beat Roy Jones in a boxing match all it would prove is that on that particular day, and with that particular version of Roy Jones, Silva was better.
No one is gonna to argue for a microsecond that a prime RRJ loses to Silva. And at this point in time I still don't think he beats Jones.

But I don't think Silva's wish to fight RRJ has anything to do with him wanting to assert the superiority of MMA strikers. I think he wants to challenge himself to see how good his boxing skills are. And considering that he's not a boxer by trade, calling out a prime light heavyweight would be foolish. His chances would be minimal.

Kermit Cintron talked about fighting an MMA bout since he has wrestling experience before he became a boxer. I would totally admire the guy if he gave it a shot. And I wouldn't draw any stupid conclusions about which sport is better no matter what the result was.

There is an ongoing battle that rages on here about which sport is superior. Some of just don't give a ****. Some of us just want to be entertained.

I wonder what weight they'd fight at?

Roy usually fights at 175 and Anderson at 205
