I agree tht there is nothing wrong with the champ defending at home, but Ward looked bad in a competition where all original members travelled and he stayed at home.
As for Calzaghe, you dont realise for whatever reason that he was the away fighter -
    Eubank in England
    Reid in England
    Woodhall in England
    Veit in Germany
All fighters above have held a SMW world title
    he fought Hopkins in America
    Jones in America
Both fighters who have been world champs
All of the above were world rated when Calzaghe the away fighter beat them.
British title against undefeated Delaney in a hostile crowd away in England.
Another fight in Scotland was against an Englishman and completely neutral.
Denmark against an American fighter was neutral.

So even with the points you note, he was the away fighter in 7 fights there and neutral in 2 of those :hi:.
Once again you get blown out of the water

That leaves slappy with 35 home fights against Ward's 5. Its too easy for me. You faill bailey. Its over now.

Go look at my post history, very little is given to slating calzaghe. opposed to your history which 100% calzaghe and very little else.

    Wrong again.
I was only bar one fight, bringing up world title fights, and thats where you have still been owned.
I noted 6 world title fights where he was the away fighter. But I was mistaken, One where I thought he was neutral he was actually away, so it becomes 7 world title fights where he was away, not 6.
1 where he was a complete neutral.
But he was not at his home country for another 5 other world title fights, but for your sake, I will say he was the local fighter.

So in those 24 world title fights he was definately the away fighter for 7 of those and a complete neutral for 1 of those and realistically a neutral in 5 others, but we will forget that for now.
Thats over half the time the champ wasnt in his home country.
Now, that is a third of his fights where he could not be called the home fighter in world title fights at all.
How many times has Ward fought in world title fights and not been the home fighter?:oops:
    This content is protected

In fact Ward has had more home town world title fights in 6 world title fights than Calzaghe managed in 24 :lol:.

The schoolings continue for you alt

  5. Calzaghe also fought in Mark Delaney's back garden for the British belt and was taunted with anti-Welsh jaunts. He preceded to **** Delaney up.

    MARK DELANEY

After three years as a professional, Calzaghe had won all 16 of his fights, had only gone beyond the fourth round twice, and only been taken the distance once.

But there was a distinct sense that he was thrown into the lions den for this, the first defence of his British title.

West Ham's Delaney was a talented 24-year-old who had won all 21 of his bouts.

To Calzaghe's chagrin, the Welshman's then-promoter Mickey Duff lost the purse bid, meaning the bout would take place on hostile territory, in Brentwood, Essex.

Two thousand fervent Delaney fans packed the International Centre, but their anti-Welsh jibes served to pump up Calzaghe.

After just 20 seconds Delaney was dropped for the first time in his career, and his nose was broken following a second first-round knock down.

The Englishman battled on, but was stopped after two more knock downs in the fifth round.

Bailey you dont know what you're talking about and you dont read my posts. You're not a reasonable poster just very stubborn. You only see things your way to suit your own arguments. It wouldn't surprise me if you were a plant sent here to try keep calzaghe relevant or was actually calzaghe himself.
Keep up the crusade .. Im out

The thread idea is ok but in all honesty with the amount of bull**** posters on this forum it just isn't a good idea. Sure if the Ward we saw against Froch faced off against Calzaghe's resume I myself would struggle to see where he'd drop a decision (Hopkins is a maybe because you just never know) realistically if were talking about Ward around the same age as when Calzaghe faced every opponent then it's a much fairer and less bias thread. It's impossible to say if we look at it like this and will need at least another 5 years to see how good Ward is when he's physically past his best.

I'll take a crafty Hopkins over a 36 year old Ward for now although this is delving into the unknown, and I think a 35 year old Ward against Kessler would be a 50-50 fight, as Kessler was pretty much at his peak by this stage in his career.
