If Andy Lee upsets Cotto and knocks him out, will the Canelo fight still happen? Cotto is better off taking on Bradley because Cotto is stronger, hits harder, bigger and more skilled, the only advantage Bradley has is speed. More than likely Cotto knocks Andy Lee out, but theres always the chance Lee will clip Cotto while behind on the cards. (Jackson, Craig McEwan)

The upset will happen, but Cotto will still get the Canelo match

If Cotto cannot defeat Andy Lee, then he has even less of a shot versus Canelo. I actually think Lee is a good tune up for the Canelo fight.

I think Bradley has a lot of other options at 147, he shouldn't taint his stock by fighting Cotto and loosing at a higher weight.

Possibly but would more likely take place at JMW for Canelo's belt rather than MW for Cotto's. I think Cotto went up to fight Martinez with the thought if he lost, the Canelo fight is on the table still, so maybe he thinks the same for Lee.

Although even when Trout beat Cotto, I expected Canelo v Cotto more than Trout v Canelo.

big difference between losing to Martinez, who was THE man at MW (even though he was broken) and then losing cotto's inherited mantle to andy lee

    it can only hurt cotto

Yea it will be a double whammy. Canelo still fights the popular boricua fighter, perhaps Miguels last fight and huge payday, and then Lee as champion will cater to the star desperate Irish fans and prepare for a crazy, Irish vs Mexican-Irish showdown that would bring tears to many irishmen faces. Instant sellouts.

Interestingly, IF the very humble Lee does become champ, he'd be yet ANOTHER fighter aside from Stevenson to have been trained by Steward and become champion AFTER Steward has passed away. It'd be such a feel good story Lee had\has so much potential, but in big fights always came short. You really want to see a good guy like him do great instead of being a stepping stone for someone else.

    well said

ordinarily I wouldn't want to see a 'stepping stone' fighter fulfill a fairytale, because so much cynicism has to live alongside the 'world champion' tag

but considering team cotto's blatant duck (and I NEVER use that word) of golovkin, it would be poetic justice to see lee have his (brief) moment in the sun

I like Lee but he can be unsteady on his feet. If he keeps Cotto at range and is accurate, he can score an upset.

What you really want for Andy Lee is for him to retire. He is a hopeless case. Going nowhere and taking unnecessary beating that may be doing him damage.
