If Angulo doesn't price himself out, I'd like to see him in against Martinez...

Especially considering Martinez only loss is to a similiar albiet slightly different fighter in Antonio Margarito.

If Martinez can dominate Angulo, I think we will get a good impression of how far he's come, because even if Angulo is different in some aspects to Margarito, they both deliver suffocating pressure and are probably the toughest guys in the sport.

I doubt that Pac and Mayweather will fight him, (especially Mayweather), and they would be better of facing each other (if Mayweather isn't content with just talkin ****, and not doin ****, as if he's one of those guys that talks **** out the window of his car while driving away), so why not Angulo Martinez?

I think this could potentially be an exciting fight, especially considering he isn't willing to go up to 168 and Pavlik doesn't seem interested in a rematch.

    I say make the fight...

Would be my first choice right now too.

Or Pirog to derail that hype train.

I don't think Pirog is a hype train, but I don't think he has the physical tools necessary to beat Martinez, especially when Martinez is performing at this level.

Pirog is also too green. He has never seen a guy even close to Martinez before.

Angulo? There are better fights at 160 for Martinez. Angulo got schooled by Cintron for goodness sake.

I agree with the above post. Angulo needs more experience. He's too one dimensional for Martinez at this point.

    Like what?

And Angulo said he had an off night, and he looks to have improved since then, at least in my opinion, whether it's true he had an off night or not.

And the only thing has troubled Martinez in the past is pressure, from Williams and Margarito, his only two losses.

Well, aside from Margarito, there may not be anybody in boxing who delivers the kind of consistant pressure that Angulo does.

And for the record, Martinez is a better boxer than Cintron, but Cintron is a huge puncher and a very good athlete when he's at the top of his game, so if he was on, and Angulo was off and relatively inexperienced, why not have Martinez and Angulo fight?

    What could possibly go wrong?

You don't think it will be exciting?

Martinez was beat by a one dimensional fighter in Margarito.

Frazier was one dimensional and he beat Ali.

Now, I'm not saying that Angulo will beat Martinez, but sometimes a certain dimension is enough to seriously challenge or beat a certain kind of fighter.

    Styles make fights.

And again, assuming Mayweather and Pac fight (which is what the public wants to see), what better fight is there for Martinez?

Pavlik is bigger than Angulo, faster than Angulo, stronger than Angulo, has better fundamentals than Angulo, is WAY smarter than Angulo, and has never been thoroughly out boxed by a Cintron level fighter.

    Do the ****ing math!

I know DiBella wanted this fight before the Williams re-match. A good, strong opponent who is also smaller and less experienced. A fight that the fans would like, without too much threat to Sergio.

As I remember, Angulo rejected a career-high payday of 850k first time around though, so unless he's become a bit more realistic, I don't see it happening.

First off, you give Pavlik way too much credit, but didn't you also say that if it were not for the cut, Pavlik would have beat Martinez?

And for the record, Pavlik and Angulo are different fighters, whether you see it that way or not...

Angulo would be the most interesting fight at 160, but styles make fights.

And Martinez has the toolset to not just beat, but embarass Angulo. The fight therefore is a bit meaningless and i bet there will be haters claiming that Martinez is cherry picking opponents

    I remember this as well.

Honestly, I think it would be a good, fan friendly fight.

How much better is Angulo with his style going to get?

Who gives a **** what "haters" say. They typically have a different agenda and are biased towards a certain fighter anyway.

Regardless, this is a fan friendly fight.

And there is always that possiblity that Martinez begins to slow down in the late rounds, and Angulo at least builds some momentum, especially if Martinez takes him lightly.

This is Angulo's opportunity of a life time.
