Guys...if Arlovski beats emelianenko , it's gonna be ****ing huge !...Even if Arlovski loses ALL his other mma fights , his name will be part of mma history if he somehow manages to beat "the" mma champ. Arlovski is taking this fight very seriously...(so is fedor)...but i'm just saying...he's not there just to collect another paycheck. you can even see in the promo video , right at 6:02 , he's studying fedor vs Mark hunt..he's writting down notes and all...he's dead serious about this one. [yt]mkHYHBm2cOk[/yt] He'll be ready for the ground & striking... this is by far one of the most important mma fight in recent years..(most important since fedor vs crocop in 2005 imo )...
Id hardly liken Arlovski to a can like Buster Douglas. Arlovski is a serious talent. I guess for all intents and purposes Fedor loosing to anyone right now has Tyson Buster Douglas proportions to some degree.
anyway comparing is stupid since it's a totally different sport but the magnitude of a loss like this one would be on par (at least for the sport of mma). Let's also not forget that Arlovski will be one of the most experienced opponent ( in the sambo department ) Fedor will have to face... Fedor's sambo credentials are way superior to arlovski's but still !...it is quite rare to have two legit sambo artists fighting each other especially in mma's hw division...but it's happening this time.
Also , i would hate seeing this fight end because of a huge cut. A cut stoppage would be horrible.....It happened vs Nogueira... He even lost against TK (because of a ****ing cut )....it also happened vs Lindland (but he was fast enough to finish him )
Thanks for the link. That's a good video. It's a spurious comparison at best to call Arlovski "Buster Douglas." Douglas was not a former champion at the time he faced Tyson. I don't recall how he earned his heavyweight title shot but I don't think it was by being considered the number one contender. Arloski is surely one of the top 5 or 10 heavyweights on the planet and deserving of this title shot.
i wouldnt call it THAT big of an upset.. itd be significant. tyson douglas is the undisputed king of upsets
