Was that 12 round KO the worst thing to happen for Haye? If it hadnt happened - haye wouldnt have fought Sprott... would he? so who do you think he would have fought instead?
Maybe Adamek. Doesn't really matter, as you can pretty much guarantee the surname of the opponent wouldn't begin with 'K'. Until it does, interest will be limited.
As much as Haye vs Harrison was a mis-match from the moment it was signed, apart from a fight against a Klitschko brother it made the most financial sense. If Sprott had, like I was shouting from my seat at Ally Pally for him to do, ran around the ring for the 12th round he wouldn't have fought Haye as it would have just proved to the casual fan, who creates most of the money for these big events, that Harrison was a bum. He would have, in my opinion, ended up fighting Valuev again using the "Valuev was robbed" as justification.
Bit off topic, but christ, just imagine.. There might have been no "A Nation Living In Fear Of Destiny."
It wouldn't have changed much. Haye had already started to **** up his heavyweight career by only fighting Barrett, Valuev and Ruiz in what took nearly two years to do. As everyone knows, Haye spent a year claiming he was going to do this and that and only fight decent, genuine top 10 opponents. Valuev was the only top 10 ranked guy he's fought so far and he was only rated so high due to longevity rather than any actual decent fights/wins. If it really is both Klitschko's that are being so awkward in negotiations for this, then Haye has the perfect opportunity to prove so by fighting the other best opponents out there (ie Adamek, Povetkin, Solis and other unbeaten prospects etc). Instead he fights Audley Harrison and is now looking at either Chagaev or Mormeck. Audley was only a part of the joke that Haye being 'the' Heavyweight Champion of the World has become.
The Sprott fight is irrelevant. Haye put on a farce of a fight so he could put millions in his pocket.
