    Hey guys,

I don't believe he will, and am betting a chunk of change on Calzaghe (and rooting for Calzaghe even more after the "I will never lose to a white boy" comment), but if B-hop somehow manages to legitamitaly defeat Joe, after all that he has accomplished and at the age of 43 to boot, I would have to place him in my top 10 P4P of all time. This would be a truly amazing accomplishment, and a great way to end a legit Hall of Fame career. Agree or disagree?

My knowledge of the history of the sport is lacking so i can't really comment but just to look at what Hopkins has accomplished at such an advanced age is special. I mean if i'm not mistaken, no one below the HW division has stayed at such a top level at such an old age right? I mean it's easier for HW's to do some good things because they don't have to drain down in weight and the skill factor isn't as crucial. Hopkins has gotten it done with incredible ring intelligence and savvy.

A victory for Bhop would make put him in the top 50 greatest of all time possibly top 35. My problem is I don't rank JoeC very high based on opposition rather than overall skill and talent. Joe's a great fighter and probably the most dominate champ at his weight class but his greatest wins are against Lacy and Kessler two undefeated champions who literally faced nothing but little known top contenders.

If he beats Calzaghe arguments could be made for top 30.

You are correct that it's even more difficult to fight at his level at his age when you are below Heavyweight. It's hard enough to do it at Heavyweight, and I'm not taking anything away from Foreman. Below 200lbs when speed, reflexes, and quickness are even more crucial at the elite level, for him to be fighting and beating the kinds of guys he has been beating lately is phenomenal!! The only fighter I can think of below Heavyweight that was beating top guys over the age of 40 is Archie Moore. Moore won the Lightheavyweight title at 36 and was defending it until over the age of 40 while fluctuating between Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight. Hopkins, however is fighting and beating guys who are in the top 10 P4P and doing it over the age of 40 which is amazing.

It's not as amazing when you count the fact that one of the guys he beat was also past his prime and well smaller than Hopkins. And he hasn't even beaten Calzaghe yet, and the chances that he does are slim and none at this stage.

I think you are grossly underrating Calzaghe's skills, bro.

I would have no problem seeing him Top 10 at that point.

Winky Wright was shorter than Hopkins, but for 90% of their careers they were fighting within 6lbs of each other. He was also several years younger than Hopkins and hadn't lost in a long time.

    And Winky was favored.

And Winky and Hopkins had similiar opponents in Tito and JT with similiar results.

And Hopkins had just moved up to LHW one fight ago.

Yeah, Hopkins was draining down to make LHW and was the naturally bigger guy but going into the fight, it was a toss up. Winky was highly regarded on the P4P list before that fight.

He was easily the smaller fighter though. Hopkins started his career at 175 and was a very large MW. Winky fit 154 and 160 well, but was clearly the smaller man than Hopkins, and didn't fit 170 well at all. At 160 I wouldn't complain as much.

It was pretty obvious given the fighter's abilities at the times that Hopkins would win. Many fighters have had victories on par with this over the history of boxing.

Hopkins has no case for even sniffing the top 10 even if he beats Calzaghe, there is simply far too much competition and people aren't thinking of who they're leaving out.

Winky was favored by whom? Certainly not the people who looked at the styles matchup.
