Now that Campbell has been stripped of his titles, there have been some talk on the British forum about this fight possibly being for the vacant WBO belt. I don't know how it all works, so I'm not sure how realistic this is.

In any event, if this turns out to be the case, would Barrera being a 4 divisional champion hold any weight whatsoever? Becoming the world champion by beating Amir Khan, and without fighting any contenders is some right bull****. I could see it being frowned upon in the history books much like Leonard is now frowned upon with the situation in the Lalonde fight.

I would much prefer Barrera to earn a shot at the title, and then have to fight somebody worthy to win it.

I knew Campbell would **** himself over. He doesn't have the temperament to stay on top.

Barrera is only still fighting because he wants to become a 4 Divisional champion. I actually think Marco would defend it once and then retire.

Quite possible. He should have retired already in truth. If I were him and he did win the belt in his 4th division,I'd go out right there,a defence would be quite pointless in my view

Not really. Barrera is a smart guy, he knows there isn't a lot of stock in winning a world title off a victory over Amir Khan. I believe he could take a defense against a real opponent just to prove to himself that he really deserves to be the champion.

    I absolutely agree.

I have the pleasure of watching Barrera fight at 122 before Morales even came into the equation and he was something special from day one. He already had a long full career even before Pacquiao, everything after that was just bonus points.

Still, I think he wants to establish himself as the greatest Mexican fighter ever. I don't think winning a LW title does that, but it certainly improves an already stellar legacy.

if MAB wasnt able to get badly beaten by Pac in their 2nd fight...i do not see that jmm would inflict damage to mab...he can beat jmm..they have equal power

I do not see how you came to that conclusion?

I think Marquez poses more problems to Barrera because he is technically more gifted than Pacquiao, and can take advantage of mistakes more efficiently. This version of Marquez, as good of one we've ever seen to be honest, would beat Barrera handily at 135.
