It's possible. WBO considers Barrera the no.1 contender and Khan never left the top 10. How these things happened, nobody really knows.
Marquez is the best 135lb fighter in the world, in my estimation. Barrera would most likely get stopped, and it saddens me to say it, because Marco is my favorite fighter of all time. He isn't the same fighter he was when he campaigned at 122 and 126. I think Marquez beats Diaz, Campbell, and Guzman, and has the potential to win a World title at 140.
I may be biased but I have him p4p no.1 because I think he beat Pac in their second fight. But if I were to make a list Pac would be no.1.I know that sounds strange but he'd have to be in fairness,he did beat JMM officially and since then has won a belt at 135 and beat Oscar convincingly. I agree JMM is the best LW out there atm.But then where does that leave Pac?As the best LWW ahead of Ricky Hatton like boxrec have it?It doesn't make sense but its tricky because Pac has been jumping the weights.I hope JMM can establish himself at lightweight starting with a win over Diaz and then move on to LWW at the back end of his career but time is not on his side.He doesn't have many fights left in him I wouldn't have thought but he definetly has the skills to win a title there
I have no arguments with someone considering Marquez the finest fighter in the world. Pacquiao is not the best 140lb fighter in the world because he has never fought at that weight. Likewise, Marquez deserves the distinction as the best 135lb fighter more than Pacquiao because a knockout victory over Casamayor is far more impressive than one over David Diaz. Just my opinions, none of this is fact, but that is where I stand on it.
He is the finest technical fighter in the world.I have no doubt about that. Both victories were impressive for their first fights at that particular weight. Hopefully,Hatton will beat Pac and JMM will beat Diaz and then a third fight may occur between the two, maybe even at 140.If this were the case,Pac would need the fight more than JMM so he may go back on what he said about Marquez fighing for $$ etc.JMM would probably give away size to most 140lb fighters but given that he has already fought Pac twice it shouldn't be a problem.
I sense that Pac doesn't fancy it a great deal but the only way it will happen is if JMM wins and Pac loses.Even then it isn't a certainty but it will probably get people talking about the fight
If Funeka wins tomorrow, he becomes the WBO champ. If he doesn't, this is a very likely scenerio. Khan is ranked #9 by the WBO.
