If Bhop beat Calzaghe, would you rate him above Floyd as ATG?

I've noticed too many Calzaghe fans try to undermine other fighters records rather than use Calzaghe's own resume as the basis for their argument. I think this is an admission to Joe's competition being far inferior.

just because he hasnt come close to being stopped before doesnt mean he wont be stopped (See Jones-Tarver KO, Tyson-Douglas, Holyfield-Toney,Mccullugh-Larios etc etc) it does happen.

And who has Hopkins fought before with the workrate of Joe Calzaghe. It will be the pace in this fight that decides the winner. Hopkins didnt like starting fast as a young champ, it will be a nightmare now he is a much older champ.

That wasn't the question, infact, this isn't even a Calzaghe thread. There are plenty of them going & the topic has been done to death so lets get back to the question in hand shall we?

Most of Calzaghe's career is a joke compared to Floyd's 2007. Are you goint to tell me you confidently picked Floyd against DLH?

i have stated before the difference between Hopkins' and Calzaghe's 20 title defences are very minimal. They both fought some top fighters, good contenders, smaller fighters and some outright duds...

You misunderstood. BigReg is a Floyd-booster and said he will do anything to undermine Calzaghe's successes in words and theory.

I was merely trying to show him that you can critically make Floyd's comp look cherry picked and not up to par with most ATG's.

I don't personally do this, I try to look at all value's in the win.

Of course I did, and I bet a large sum of money on Floyd. Because DLH was past his best and always failed in the superfights prior, not to mention, I knew that Floyd would fight safety first and give DLH no chance of the KO that he needed to win.

It was more fun being a Calzaghe fan pre-Lacy, looking at all of the ignorant comments about daily in the media and on boxing forums.

The question is irrelevant. Calzaghe is in the top 2 Supermiddleweights of all time.:happy :happy :happy :happy

The only way Bhop beats JC is if JC has a car accident on the way to the fight.:yep

Joe Calzaghe hasn't got the one punch power to knock out Hopkins clean so it would have to be the accumulation affect which I cant see happening as Hopkins is too cunning.

This isn't a Calzaghe thread anyway so shall we stay on topic? Theres a prediction thread going & I've already explained in detail how I think Hopkins will win so until then I will have very little more to say on the matter.

This fight is a 60/40 in favor of Calzaghe, he's younger and closer to his prime. I do feel Hopkins is the bigger and more powerful puncher in the ring. I think if Calzaghe could stick with his plan and keep a high workrate throughout the fight he should win on the cards, but Hopkins the king of taking fighters out of there game plan, I see him pulling out all the stops in this fight, and using his ring generalship and rough house tactics to make it a very competitve fight.

Yes - at this point in time - B-Hop would be above Floyd - if he beats Calzaghe.

I agree, but bearing in mind it would still be mighty close and Floyd Mayweather is still at his peak, and is surrounded with the best weight division in boxing. Given the will to carry on boxing he would still go on to ranked higher than Hopkins as an ATG.
