If Bivol goes down to 168, can he become a champ?

I wonder if he will be as strong at 168.

Hard to say - he’s clearly all wrong for Canelo. I much prefer the Bivol vs Beterbiev fight than him moving down. Still if he did I’m confident Canelo would do everything to avoid him.

Canelo didn't want to put his belts on the line against him at 168. That's the only way a rematch between the 2 would be interesting. Personally, I think Bivol going to 168 to fight him is invitation for a robbery.

When Canelo offered the pitiful excuse of why he lost to Dmitry Bivol " He was just too big" ROFL at weigh in Bivol was 4 ounces heavier than Ginger :risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3:. Not his fault Canelo has short stumpy legs:aaaaa:
Dmitry offered to rematch Canelo @ 168 for all his trinkets Guess what ?? Ginger said NO!!!!!!!!!!!:risas3: He obviously didn't want another embarrassing schooling :headbash
Bivol took Canelo's soul when he whipped his butt & beat him like he stole something lol He's avoiding Benavidez like he had the plague. How anyone STILL supports him beats me

Not supporting Canelo anymore due to him losing a fight in a weight class higher than his natural one isn’t a knock. On top of that he took on arguably the most skilled 175er in the division. That’s like knocking Andrade for losing to Benavidez.

The Benavidez situation is…complicated. Everyone deserves blame for this.

Canelo wants to cash out while remaining on top since he knows he’s on the decline. He won’t fight anyone who has a good shot at beating him and is using his position as the face of boxing to keep the gravy train rolling. People are right to be annoyed with him not giving Benavidez a chance, but those people also aren’t the ones who have to step into the ring either.

The sanctioning bodies are the ones who have the power to make him fight or give up the belt, but notice they won’t enforce Benavidez to be the mandatory. They know if Canelo loses he becomes less marketable which means less money for them. They share more blame than Canelo as they enable his behavior.

Team Benavidez also shares some blame in this. They lied over the $55 million contract claim. They also trash Canelo in public over his refusal to fight David when this kind of thing should be done in private. It doesn’t help their plight that they’ve had several public feuds with other boxers such as Plant. If they were serious about the Canelo fight they would fight the sanctioning bodies in court over not enforcing the rules to him, but they won’t. While I don’t know the veracity of this, there was a rumor that Canelo offered to fight them for $5 million some time ago and they turned it down. That to me indicates they just want a money fight, not really the belts. They’re not serious in other words.

The haters also deserve some blame for this too. No matter what Canelo does the people who are screaming at him the loudest will never give him his due. More so the issue is the hate for Canelo existed long before the Benavidez fiasco so him fighting Benavidez will never satisfy them whether he wins or loses. The more they keep slamming him for it, that’s the more likely he’ll never fight Benavidez.

So hard to say how the weigh cut will affect him.

The way fighters cut weight these days moving down a weight is very dangerous.

    Boxing sucks man.

Such a victim mentality for a so-called accomplished champion. Nobody complained when he fought GGG for the first time other than result. Jacobs was a good fight as well. Everyone was happy seeing him fight a legit 175 champion that hadn't lost 3 of his last 6 fights and had one foot out the door of boxing.

Canelo deserves every thing he gets for acting like a silly child.. Have you seen his posts on FB where he claims he is the " King of Boxing & no one can beat me" ROFLMAO. He took a whipping from Bivol. Canelo was totally outclassed, Dmitry spanked him. His excuse ?? Bivol was too big?? Yeah at weigh in Bivol was 4 ounces heavier ROFL. He prances around with that silly crown on his head like a 13 yr old kid
All throughout his career he has had the state commission, Vegas Boxing & their officials watching his back to ensure he never loses a decision in Vegas plus they turned a blind eye to his Ped's activities too.
I sincerely hope Jaime Munguia does what Dmitry Bivol did, which was show him how a REAL Champion operated but knocks him out cold because as we all know Jaime would have to knock him down 5 or 6 times & still lose to the Ginger fraud by SD lol
Those two clowns , Ginger & Floyd ,have been largely responsible for boxing losing all credibility as a legitimate combat sport today.

I had no idea he had a Facebook. I thought most "celebs" nowadays just use Twitter or Instagram.

No ones denying he got destroyed by Bivol, but its hard to knock someone for moving up to challenge themselves is what I'm saying. Unless its like a Jermell situation where you only move up for the sake of a money fight while parading around in public claiming your gonna fight with everything you got. Those guys deserve to be suspended from the sport for a while IMO.

The judges will favor whoever is the cash cow. Ali clearly got beat against Norton in the third fight for example, yet the judges gave him the win. We shouldn't bash Ali for it unless we have credible proof he was involved with paying off the judges or doing whatever to curry favor from them. We should be bashing the judges if anything.

The state commission turns a blind eye to most boxers using PEDs lol. Second with the way PED science has advanced and trainers/promoters being familiar with testing cycles, a lot of boxers on PEDs can go undetected. How do we know Bivol for example wasn't juicing at some point? AJ certainly is. Fury got caught with them too. Floyd and Pacquiao were both on PEDs as well.

Mmmmmm disagree. I think the reason why the sport is losing so much credibility is because too many top boxers are inactive. You look at guys like Andry Ruiz Jr, Keith Thurman and Jermall Charlo and its like, they're all fun to watch and have decent sized fan bases who want to see them fight, but they don't. They'd rather sit on their ass all day. Keith was inactive for what, 3 years? They're are all perfect examples of that.

The irony though is Canelo is largely why the sport regained its credibility lol.

I say that because prior to the Floyd fight, the sport was pretty much dead from 2005 - 2013. MMAs rise of course had an additional impact but thats besides the point. After Canelo fought Floyd in 2013 and started getting pretty good, that's when the sport began to come back to life and of course is what led to him becoming the face of boxing.

I do think Floyd played an impact on why the sports credibility dropped due to his zero protection plan program, but not Canelo. He brought credibility back to it when it desperately needed it.

The last time I remember an unbeaten LHWw champ going down to pick up another title at 168, was Bad Chad, and he didn't handle the weight loss well.

    Maybe Bivol can do it.

    Maybe not.

After Beterbiev beats the **** out of Bivol, maybe Bivol will go down to 168lbs?

Nope. Dawson tried that already when he was king of 175.

He came down to fight Ward and got absolutely destroyed.
