If Bivol wins, his win should not be discredited by people talking about Beterbiev's injury.

Beterbiev looked as good as ever vs Callum Smith despite coming off an injury.

Additionally, he hasn't taken much damage in his career. Yes, he has some wear and tear from 300 amateur fights and 20 pro fights. But he hasn't been ko'd, he has only been knocked down twice. He is a young 39, not an old one.

If he can look like he is at his peak when fighting Smith despite coming off an injury, its safe to assume that the Beterbiev that faces Bivol will be at least as good as the one who faced Smith.

I feel bad for Bivol. He is in a lose lose situation. If he wins, people will discredit it by saying it was due to Beterbiev's injury. If he loses, its a major setback.

I don't think Bivol will win but i am cheering for him and i hope people don't falsely attribute him winning to Beterbiev's age and injury.

If Bivol wins, he moves up to #2 in my P4P rankings only behind Usyk.

one of the few fights where i can't say with even the smallest degree of certainty which fighter will win.
will it be beterbiev's inside game or bivol's mid range boxing and defense skills that will get the win?
a win by either boxer is legitimate in my opinion.

Agreed. I just feel bad for Bivol since he is in a lose lose situation. He is going in vs a monster and yet if he wins, people will discredit him.

Great avatar btw. Love that show. I have been on a bit of a Columbo marathon.

    True

But I'm spending the first 4 rounds keeping an eye on his feet because although he's never been the slickest if his knee is giving him issues and he's EVEN more static than usual then it will be clear. His style hardly shouts spring chicken on his toes anyway which is why Bivol has a chance.

Beterbiev is like steel, there is no chance that excuses will be made if Bivol wins, and I doubt that Beterbiev would be ready to fight injured in the most important fight of his career.

If Bivol wins he's the best LHW, the unified champ and a top 4 p4p lock

It won't change people thinking prime for prime Beterbiev beats him.

Won't stop people thinking he's aged Beterbiev out.

Bivol could have fought Beterbiev 2 years ago after the Canelo and Joe Smith Jr wins for both guys.

If Bivol dominates then he is most definitely gonna have people trying to discredit him. To get full credit he ironically would need to do worse, and struggle to a 7-5 type win.

No because then he's struggled with an old injured man.

Could have fought 7 years ago, they've shared a division as title holders for 7 years.

^ pretty much my sentiments. And I'm not personally rooting for either fighter. Just very much looking forward to a very good scrap here, let the best man win.

Looks like some people are already trying to discredit it. Suddenly Beterbiev is old and shot. Could have fooled me given his last performance. Or maybe he gets old as he's walking to the ring to face Bivol.

Not discredited, but Bivol should have taken this fight 3 years ago at least. It is obvious why he didn't, and like Mayweather vs Pac, it is the fans' loss.
