If Bob Arum retires from Boxing Promoting, is this good for Boxing?

Todd DuBoeuf will replace him. Not that DuBoeuf is an angel, but he certainly isn't as belligerent nor as stubborn as Arum.

There would certainly be a thaw in Top Rank's relationship with GBP, which IMO is the biggest problem in boxing right now.

Also, unlike Arum, Duboeuf has a good relationship with Floyd Mayweather, so there would be a far greater chance of Floyd fighting Top Rank fighters. Although Floyd will probably be retired before Arum anyway.

 

And will continue to be at it for centuries.

Yes the ****ing mafia. They don't need contracts, they don't need to buy judges, there is no "share of the purse".

After Arum, like be another Arum. Like the NCAA, the business model is ripe for corruption at every level and the talent always get ****ed.

 

Top Rank will continue, I doubt Arum's retirement will make much difference to the way boxing works.

While Arum is due a lot of criticism for one reason or another, its also fair to say that he's promoted some great fights over the years.

 

Dallas won't be big enough. A new stadium will need to be built.

 

Retire, Arum doesn't look a day over 60

 

you would be naive if you think that a lot will change if arum suddenly passes away.

 

Like many good fights didn't/couldn't happen, far too many did happen. Like it or not, Arum brought boxing a lot of great unforgettable events and continues to do so. If he leaves, it's definitely bad for the sport.

 

I used to like the guy but not anymore. I think he fixes fights, doesn't allow his boxers to fight guys from other promotional outfits etc.. I hope something changes at Top Rank! The sooner the better..

 

He does make stars though.
